RE: Northern , NY fawns or lack of ..

On my road I have seen a pair of fawns and at least 1 or 2 singles. Its pretty much normal for the fawns i have seen here other years.

I do worry about the rising coyote population. I never see them, but we have been hearing them a lot lately, something we never used to hear.

Well I hunted the last couple evens ,
1st day sean 4 mature doe and 1 fawn ,
Went out in the same location tonight and seen 2 mature doe and 1 fawn ,
Could be should be would be or whatever ???
Acording to my notes from last year at this time of year I was seeing 8 to 12 deer , and they were 1 myure doe and usualy 2 fawns almost everytime .
Our rut cycle was all out of wack last year ..
Maybe this is the reason /
Anyway I may be jumping the gun , but Ill see in the next couple weeks ,
Anyone in N,NY, State please try to post your obsevations so we can compare .
Good luck to all and be safe.....

RE: Northern , NY fawns or lack of ..

On the 300 acre farm we hunted last year and took 6 does and 2 doe fawns on, I am seeing 35 to 50 deer per night.
Over 1/fawns - both numbers about the same as last year. Neighboring properties about the same and the whole area has at least medium hunting pressure.

Compare this to some of the above reports, and you see why management needs to be addressed on as micro level as possible - NOT with the blanket, state wide regulations some seem to favor.
