RE: new york youth hunt
my 2 oldest boys got thier toms this morning! luke (12) got a 21 lb 91/2" 1-1/8 spurred tom while hunter (13) got a hefty 17 lb jake. Fisrt spring birds ever, they were super excited!! my dad took luke out for his, while hunter and I were about 10 miles away in a different location. both hunts were over at 6:15. i though MY heart was coming outta my chest, it think i was more excited than hunter. 32 yard shot with my 3"11-87 #5's did the trick. Luke used my wifes 870 with 3" #5's at 40 yards. he was going to let it get closer but a deer was blowing and the tom was getting antsy. we had practiced the 40 yard shot and knew the gun (and they boys) were more than capable. one of the best days of my life! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/moose1915/turkey2008014.jpg |

congrats guys. Moose... sounds like an awesome day to spend with the guys in your family. IMO, there's nothing better! What a great feeling! My youngest turns 12 in September and can't wait for fall turkey.
