What is this from?

I came across this while doing some winter scouting this past weekend. This is one of two beds I found. Atleast I think it is a bed. It looks like blood. Is this a wounded deer or could the deer be in heat? There were no blood spots where the deer walked, only where it was laying.

Usually they won't pee right in their bed. Didn't smell it did you?

Looks more like a pawed area than a bed to me because of the debris thrown away from it to the right? Maybe it was just a deer rooting around andthe thawing madesome mud?

My guess would be mud or something leaching from the leaves. It certainly doesnt look like blood to me.

Looks like it could be apple juice, any apple trees near by? It don't look like a bed to me.

Nope, no apple trees. I thought maybe it was blood cause it was definately red. Although, I could've taken a nice picture of some mud. hahahaha. I thought it was weird cause I found one spot like it and followed the tracks from there to this spot. Here is another closer picture I took.
