three guys carrying carbon arrows in a bow quiver attached to a compound that was released by a strap on trigger shooting release, trying to convince a crossbow user that they were hunting with a primitive weapon from their treestands that they had carried in on their ATV 2 weeks earlier. one was holding a flashlite pointed down at his GPS cause he gets lost in the dark scary woods

FOr me It is what I saw this year.
Driving home from work in the morning I work 7 pm to 7 am. I noticed a deer on the side of the road that was caped with its head cut off for it to be mounted. Also on a side note it was fully field dressed. Sick indeed. No meat was taken from what I could see.

all them ones i can agree with...only im a quad rider!! but dont do it on first weeks of ne seasons...and only on big trails that if you hunt near its your problem type of situations...and would never ruin a hunt on purpose..and i hate it when theym guys do ride days b4 or durnign a open season....but to add the them..how bout your out calling with a trukey call on ne day of the season and you call in more hunters then birds...my dad and i have to sit perfectly still jsut coz theres morons that do that...and its illegal to stalk turkeys in PA!!!! them guys really scare me...me and my dad bet they are hunting with rifles and duno where to shot a bird and how to call it and dun oth diffrence between a gobbler and a hen in srping GOBBLER season...scary stuff!!

Hey Terry,
That was on state game lands where ATV's are illegal. I bow hunt with a recurve, shoot instinctively, use two bladed broadheads, and use a $30.00 chain on, Walmart bought treestand with home made wooden strap on tree steps.
I do not qualify as one of your elite, wealthy, fancy compound/crossbow toting comrades with carbon arrows, open on impact mechanical broadhead, GPS devices, release aids, and cocking devices.
I bow hunt the same way I would have in 1972.

Gar shooter are you paranoid or what? Cause I went back and reread my post but didn't see a name in it. though I am glad to see that you feel compounds and crossbows are basiclly the same animal. now when you get them out of archery season i'll agree to no crossbows in it, too

Terry,
The only difference between the new fangled compounds and the crossbow is that you need to draw a bow just prior to shooting at an animal. The crossbow is cocked and ready. That is a hell of a sticking point in my mind.
If they made it so you had to have a crossbow uncocked prior to getting ready to shoot an animal, the crossbow would get my vote too. That would indeed be more challenging than my recurve.

RE: What is the worst thing you've seen in the woods?
I saw a big fat anti-hunter on the old Jersey Doe days (when you only had 1) wearing a bright orange jump suit and blowing a kazoo on state land. The guy walked by me at about 40 yds and I let him know how I felt at that time. This was at 7.30am. Needless to say no one saw any deer that morning.
Any time beautiful land is eaten up by developers. This is way too common in NJ.
Looking at the world from 15 feet up.

How about owning your own land that you spent days posting, and preparing for deer season, only to see some guy walking through your woods with a flashlight.
How about stopping him and giving him the business, and he don't even apologize!
How about he asks you how long you gonna be hunting that week?
How bout you return to your land 2 days later to find a gutpile, rubber gloves and a cigarette butt!!!!
THIS ALL HAPPENED TO ME!!! I WAS FURIOUS!!!
BEST PART IS I FOUND THAT S.O.B.'s TREESTAND CUT IT DOWN AND TOOK IT FOR MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!
