I love deer hunting in Ct.

What a great couple days we had I shot 3 deer in a day and a half you talk about sucess I already can't wait till next year. 5 guys in my group and 6 deer you can't beat that with a stick in the whole North east. Here is a group photo.

And I was also luck enough to take the biggest of the bunch. Not a Monster but I'll take them like this every day of the week

Mike Hill,

What your buddies running on "Brown It's Down"? Those are some young deer. Your's is nice though

That is a respectable 6pt, but I'm a bit confussed. Three deer? Last time I hunted Ct each hunter only got two tags. Are they giving out replacement tags in some counties?

FishFry is onto something. Ct has always had good hunting, and could benifit from antler restrictions. Love 'em or hate 'em, they work.

Mike, sorry I forgot; Congrats on a successful weekend. Didn't mean to take anything away.

I guess I should have been more clear and stated I filled both my private land tags and my state land tag. Small deer I guess but lets see pictures of your monsters then. We took all legal deer and had a ball doing it killjoy why can't you just be happy for us.

DJ we were only about 30 miles from Colechester. If you ever need help hunting there just give me a yell. I love that whole area.

trophy is in the eye ...BUT the little one you pass is the corker you shoot in a few years.....

If you need meat shoot a doe

Nice job Mike... Filled both your MA buck tags in archery and now this. You gotta have a big freezer bud. I'm sorry I tagged out in MA on bucks cause it takes some of the motivation out of it. Lots of doe tags but just don't need any more meat. I may take the daughter out for opening day of shotgun. Gotta sweet spot in W. Bridgewater with lots of fat does.

I'll tell you what Mike. You shoot what you want and I'll shoot what I want and we can let the rest of them do the same. It's usually the guys who don't shoot anything who talk about AR's and QDM.

RE: I love deer hunting in Ct.

My freezer is full with a doe and a 220 pound 8 pointer......I could careless what people shoot......if you are happy that is all that matters

I do disagree with shooting something just because you want to fill a tag .....that is being a killer not a hunter

Oh well Imagin to my suprise that after 50 years of what I thought was hunting I'm just a killer. I bet my 23 years of active military service has something to do with it. But I'm an equal opportunity killer. This is my biggest Ct. deer. 3 years ago.

Of course I bet you have one from Ct. much bigger? Also notice the doe beside him. (Just a Killer)

Nice going Mike! That is one big 6 point you have there. You've been having one heck of a season! Congrats to all of you.

Congrats Mike on a successful hunt with your friends. Don't listen for a minute to any of the people who start blabbing about antler restriction and such nonesense. As someone else mentioned, they are the ones who usually never get any deer and now want the state to somehow try to make things easier for them. All that states should be concerned with is controlling deer populations. How big a bucks antlers are means JACK in the scheme of things. If you and your friends were happy with the deer they got, that is all that should matter. You can't ask for more success than that!

I take it this was the smallest then? Nice hacked neck shot. I'd say you are a killer..Brown It's Down Killer

you know i dont know about anyone else but i tried and tried again to boil them things on the deer heads and for some reason they never became edible,NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU COOK OR ADD SEASONING TO IT. who cares what people take to eat. not everyone hunts for trophy and as stated before "ITS ALL IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER".

military service has nothing to do with hunting....or filling a tag just to fill a tag ...

we can agree to disagree.....not my style hunting...

nice deer in the truck ...

Good season here too. Two from Area 52 and still have some time for private land. Black powder yet to come.

It is kind of hard to think of December without much hunting beyond some club pheasant, the tail end of private land, and some muzzle loader.

Ignore those guys obssessed with antlers. Can't eat them. All they do is gather dust.

I love letting an arrow fly to but you got to let the baby bucks walk if you wana kill shoot a doe. In a few years those deer would be wallhangers thats what sucks about ct everyons shoots small bucks.

Thats a nice deer but ive shot A lot bigger in ct

CT HUNTER....I am not obessed at all with Antlers....BUT we have deer all over. if you need to kill something shoot a doe..that is what truly helps the pop problem... let the young bucks walk and everyone benefits across the board....

I am not trying to preach because I also feel if you have spent alot time countless hours in the woods with no luck and the first deer you see is a spike well then green light.....but if it is opening day.....again wack does all day long....

CT-Hunter 11-28-2007 02:19 PM

RE: I love deer hunting in Ct.

I don't need to kill anything. I hunt to be in the woods, then to fill my freezer and on occasion that of my friends and groups like Hunters for the Hungry. If I can get a nice buck, all the better (and I have gotten a few), but I don't obssess about it.

As for my success rate, it is better than most. Indeed it is better than all but a few because I don't measure my success by the number of deer I kill but rather by the number of chances I have had to hunt and the number of deer I could have killed but chose not to for one reason or another. But, still, it amazes me that you know so much about me based on the fact that I do not measure my success by the size of a buck's antlers. Maybe I should spend more time drooling over some whack 'em and stack 'em videos.

Still waiting to see these great big huge Bucks as you put it there all over the place in Ct. cause you let them grow in your area. Really piss me off. Put me down because I shoot legal deer cause it not up to your specs. Go pound tar..... I have never ever put a single person down on this form is all the years I have been here and when I share my success with folks on here I don't expect to be put down by kids who have benn hunting for all of 10 years or less. I like my venison and if its legal and I feel like taking it I do.

FISHFRY as far as a Hack job to the neck if you can't handell your equipment and shoot good enough by all means don't take the shot. But I'll tell you you puke don't put me down for makeing a quick kill shot just because its not in you book and you can't make the shot.

If the MODs want to bounce me for telling it like it is then bounce me. But the ones who need to be bounced are the unsportsman pieces of crap who come in here and want every one to live up to what they say with there 15-20 posts. I say Who needs them.

So I say again where are all the giant Bucks you guys were giong out for.

thanks to most of you for your support. can you belive these guys.

That is a beautiful 6 point, congratulations. Believe it or not I would mount a 6 point like that because I want good examples of nice racks from 4 point on up. Nice deer.:)

I'm with you Mike - no-one on these boards or anywhere deserves to be called out when hunting legally. Last I checked this wasnt "Trophy Hunting.Net". I thought they were joking around with you at first - but I'll second the "stuff it" you gave them.

Nothing like deer camp - glad you had a successful season, and fun at the same time! Thanks for posting the pictures.

Here, here Mike,

I can't agree with you more. Let 'em drool over their antlers, while we eat our raosts, steaks, stews, etc.

ALL the BS: sounds like fertile ground for the ANTI"S Shoot 'em small, let them grow, yada yada. To each his own.

When it gets to sound like BRAGGING, particularly on the Internet, we must be careful
