My best opening day had in alot of yrs. I saw 18 deer Sat., thats alot considering the last 3 yrs I've seen a total of 1 deer in our woods on the opener. I passed on several small doe/fawns.Couldn't get a shot at couple nice doe I saw. 2nd day today I only seen 1 deer, but the rest guys saw several, and they saw some bucks running doe around woods. We hadn't seen any of that all bow season. The best news is my son 16yrs old, 1st yr out during reg. season. He's been archery hunting with me since turned 14. He shot his first ever deer, a nice adult doe. I was really happy, and one proud father.
Overall shooting was definitly down. We have state land on our borders, and we also hunt the state lands. I saw only 2 other hunters besides our group in state woods. I was surprised wasn't more hunters out with the cool temps, and little bit of snow.

Saw 7 deer tonight. 4 scrub bucks and 3 does. Does were are beingrun around so I couldn't get a shot.Rather shoot a doe for the meat than those scub bucks. Should be nie next year. Think I saw a Yote running also about 200 yards out.

Was a freaking shooting gallery near us the last two days. I took a smaller doe just at legal sunlight from my stand. My brother-in-law got a horse of a doe, I could have taken a nicer doe later in the day if I had had a doe tag still, while stalking I had one about 15 feet away standing notknowing I was there. Saw tons of rut activity (scrapes, rubs) and very fresh ones, over the top of snow. Didn't see any bucks myself, brother-in-law saw a decent six 6pt but no shot presented itself. Lots of hunters on the state landand other properties near us. Probably averages about 75 shots a day we heard. Hope they didn'tkill all the deer.
