starting lightly... from what I have heard. I personally haven't seen any rutting activity, but some friends have seen some light chasing... lots of fresh scrapes appearing. This colder nastier weather should kick it off.
I hope...

I have seen some scrapes that are being reopened and a lot of rubs really agressive ones where the tree is ripped in half and laying in 2 pieces, but only heard some chasing while in my stand before light. It has been pretty warm out and I think that is what is keeping all the activity happening at night. As soon as the temp dips a little bit we should see it more, I have also found a lot of sign at some water holes and swamp puddles maybe they are getting up for an afternoon drink

As far as I'm concerned it's as good as it gets right now. The bucks are looking and the does are not quiteready. In a week or so they are gonna be paired up a bit more.
I like it when their looking!!!!

This cold snap should kick it off for the most part in my opinion.

My buddy shot this decent 8 in Berkshire County yesterday AM. He had the place torn up. 3 doe came in first light. He came in grunting and chasing right after them. His 2nd 8 point of the MA bow season.
