parasite or insect HELP PLEASE
I was hanging a deer this morning and found an insect on it. It is a cross between a spider and a tick, it has a 2 segmented body ( 1 for the head and 1 for the main body ) also has 6 legs and a hard shell. There seems to be a tiny protruding spear coming from the head and also found a juvenile one with wings. I shot an older deer last year that was loaded with them does anyone know what they are?

RE: parasite or insect HELP PLEASE
That is a louse fly (also called ked). Don't worry, it isn't a danger to people.

RE: parasite or insect HELP PLEASE
They do seem to get all over youand move very fast. they seem real active when the weather is warm. Shot a doe in 75 degree weather last week and they were all over us while we skinned it.
They may be harmless but they'll sure give you the heebie jeebies!!! |
