MD Early Muzzeloader
I am going to the eastern shore for MD Early Muzzeloader anyone else hunting it? My only dissapointment is the weather. Its supposed to be around 80 and raining. This should def hurt the deer movement and I am wondering if I should just go up to PA and archery hunt.

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
Hello all new to the site here.
I live on the eatern shore and have been out quite abit this season. I would hunt even though it is warm I know of some nice bucks that have been taken in the last couple of days. From what I have observed the deer are concentraiting around water sources do to the lack of rain. Most of the farmers in my area have harvested crops. Food sources are as low as they can be the leaves are falling fast and there in not much nutrition out there due to dry weather. I have never seen as many deer at my feeders as I have seen this year. I usally will use 200 pounds of feed for two months and I am going through 200 pounds in two weeks now. The weather is changing with this front comming and I think you all will see allott of movement. The rain we had a few weeks ago had the deer moving a whole lot in the middle of the day. Good luck and have a great Hunt. |
RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
I was out yesterday and this morning with no sightings. I will be heading out with my 14 YO son in an hour or two. I hope he can pop a cap on something.

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
I was out this morning. All I got was sweaty and rained on. Nothing was moving in my parts. I'm hoping that the change in weather will have them moving tomorrow. What do you all think?

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
I went out on Thurday and saw a large bodied deer, and shot a 3pt. I have never seen a 3 point with such huge bases and so big bodied.
Then today, got a special surprise and downed a decent 2X2 Sika. Very good season so far. |

BC i met you at Dave's one year and I sure don't remember you looking like that in that pic. That pic is a spitting image of my son in law, I called my wife in to look at it without saying anything and she said the same thing. That is you in the pic isn't it? BTW, congrats on a fine season so far.

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
I went out yesterday morning at BARC and didn't see anything.... temperature wasn't bad till about... 8.. then you could feel it heating up. We went and check some property out in Salisbury.. that was a no go. I'm headed out tomorrow down near Rock Hall,I got a really good feelin and with this front and slightly cooler temps. I think something good may go on tomorrow.
Also, Mike at Barc said that the morning hunt at beltsville was cancelled, wasn't allowed to say why but that it was cancelled, afternoon hunts are still good though i believe |

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
Rock Hall area is exceptional for hunting good luck.
I do not live all that far from there. I was out yesterday evenin and wow I saw 0 deer but the squirels were every where. |
RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
OK well skunked so far this year. I saw one doe today that I couldn't get a shot at. Anybody else?
Looks like I'll be out with the bow soon as the rut is coming. :D |
RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
Everything is a lease over at Rock Hall though unless you have some serious ties.

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
Congrats on the Sika. I heard they eat better than Whitetails...any truth to that?

RE: MD Early Muzzeloader
Yeah, there is some good hunting in Rock Hall and it is all by lease.... it gets harder and harder to find land worth anything now that we stick with this it's only about10 acres but we pull several deer off of it each year and there are some realhammers in the area
as for a report.... morning both my cousin and I saw nadda Afternoon.... I saw a real nice non-typical and a 3x2 but didn't feel good about the shot on the non-typ. so i let it walk till the rut starts up..... will be an awesome bow buck. My cousin saw 9 and shot agood size doe... about 90 dressed how did everyone else do? |
