I use my .54 caliber Early Lancaster flintlock custom rifle I built in 1994. I've been using it ever since. Befor that is was the same caliber in an early fullstock custom built Hawken. I use a .530 roundball in a .015 cotton patch on top of 75 gr of FFg Goex black powder. That has been the same for both rifles. It just worked out that way when I worked up the loads. I've been using a flintlock since 1987. That's when using my Winchester 30.06, with my reloads, was no longer a challenge. Just my preference. To each his own.

Ah, let's see, M98 mauser 30-06, Winchester m94 .307, Swedish mauser 6.5x55, 257 roberts, Remington 870 12 ga slug barrel. Bullet selection us either hornady or sierra for hunting.

Well, I have a bunch to choose from but my 30.06 Remington is always in the front line up in my vault. It sees more action than all other calibers I own. I guess it really depends on where I hunt.
Sometimes I hunt farm land with open fields and use the 270 or 7mm mag. Ive even used my 300 WBY mag in such places, but lately the Magnums seem to get heavier each year and I opt for the .06 again.
All of today's popular centerfire cartridges will drop game with a well placed shot ( the main objective of any consientious hunter).

Deer- Remington 700 bdl ss/150gr nosler ballistic tip. Or savage 210 bolt action/ winchester partition gold 3&quot; mag. Or moutaineer ultra cam mag/ 27&quot; easton xx75/ 100gr rocket steelhead. These are my weapons of choice when seriously after meat. Have several others that I use occaisionally for nostalgic reasons, and some just for something different.

I use a savage 99a in 250-3000 most of the time..I shoot winchester 100gr silvertips factory loads.I also use a savage 99 DL in 284 winchester. I handload hornady 139 gr sp for the 284.
