I have not heard the rumor but, if you are listening Cabelas, I pledge to be a VERY regular customer if you will open a store in Martinsburg or Frederick, or Hagerstown...come on, please, pretty please.

Well, although it would be awesome to have a Cabelas store near you, the Martinsburg, WV store will never happen. As a matter of fact, there will never be another Cabelas Store open in WV. We have a store in Wheeling, WVand one in Hamburg, PA. Its more likely that you all will end up with a Gander Mountain or Bass Pro neither of which hold a candle to a Cabelas store. I live in Parkersburg, WV (wood Co) and Cabelas was planning on opening the now Wheeling store in Williamstown, WV right off I-77. The land was surveyed and everything was ready to go, but they decided to go with Wheeling instead. I hated to see that happen since Wheeling is almost 2 hours away and Williamstown would have been 10 minutes. I would have ended up spending too much money anyways and my wife would have went to work there just for the discounts...lol...If there is anything I need to get, I just order it from the catalog and it arrives to my house in 2 days since most items are being shipped from the Wheeling warehouse. We try to make a road trip every couple of months to the Wheeling store.

Prozac,
I figured the logic for this store, if there was/is one, was not to especially serve the people ov WV, but more for people in the Washington, DC/Baltimore metro areas. Seems to be Cabelas M/O to station a store in a rural/suburban area to service a bigger metro area aka Hamburg (Philadelphia) and Wheeling (pittsburgh)

I've been hearing for months that it's to be off the Spring Mills exit.

Before the Hamburg store or maybe it was the WV storethere were rumours of Cabela's looking at land in the Ripley,NY area just outside of Erie,Pa.There were alot of excited folks around here, but they went to one of those other locations not sure which it was now, but one of the two.

Wheeling and now possibly Martinsburgmake much more sense than Williamstown for the exact reasons stated above; multiple interstates in the immediate vicinity and the ability to draw from major metropolitan areas. A Martinsburg store would draw from Southern PA and the Hagerstown area, Western Maryland and the DC/Baltimore Metro area and even down into Winchester Virginia area. It would be a good move for them. Plus, WV politicians are so starved for positive publicity that points to business progress in this state, that they'd likely cut Cabelas a huge tax break, much as they did in Wheeling.

It would be great if they did build one in Martinsburg, im only about 45 minutes to a hour away. The Gander Mountain in Winchester is our only major sporting goods store at the moment and its ok but no Cabelas or Bass Pro. But then there is always a rumor about something big going into that area. I remember a few years ago when they were talking about a Nascar track around Martinsburg/Charles Town, but havent heard anything since.
