RE: Vanilla Extract :)
ORIGINAL: kingnn93 is it better to dilute the vanilla extract with water (50/50) or just to put it in the scent bomb the way it is with out adding water?? |
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
thnksz once again lol
|
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
been thinking about this more.
by diluting it, you're making it smell less, making the deer come closer to get a good whiff. but you're also shortening the range that they can smell it. i would dilute it for bow, but maybe not for gun, where you can shoot a further distance. i dunno if it would spook deer full strength tho. ![]() |
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
i tried this tonight , i put it in 3 places , and 8 does hit each spot immediately. i am going to try it again.

RE: Vanilla Extract :)
a Scent Bomb is a product made by Tinks. its basically an orange plastic bottle (small, like a small vitamin bottle) with a lid and an unscented wick inside. you put scent on the wick, whether it be vanilla extract or urine, pull up the wick and use it to attract deer. then, at the end of the day, push the wick back inside and close it up to bring it home wit u. you can normally get them at any sporting goods store or walmart. they're pretty popular. |
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
***Bwahhhh***
You guys are funny! OK...Vanilla experimenters need to clarify further, who all is using imitation and who is using real? Also, about the girly froufrou juice- Last year I had a hair appt- intended to go home and rewash my hair to not be so froufrou. Didn't have time, said screw it, take my chances. That day I had a buck behind me, other side of a mess of pines, grunting. I guess he liked it, LOL! |
RE: Vanilla Extract :)

RE: Vanilla Extract :)
I have been using vanilla (inmitation)for many years, It works without a doubt . I shot 2 bucks while using it and would have never got the shot off other wise-----Buck was chasing (fast trot) does, the doe stops to smell the bush I sprayed with it and the buck stopped right behind her ----and bang nice 7 pt-----this happened the next season as well. It is cheap enough to try It for yourself.
if anyone could help me out, my name should be Makoman1 not Makomam1 how do I correct this. ( I an not new to the board, just changed jobs and have a different email so I registered as new) thanks |
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
JC don't listen to the guys that show no respect. As for the Vanilla I'll have to give it a try one day.
|
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
I've used vanilla for years...I put it in a spray bottle and spray my clothes down...Works great even though you smell like a big cookie...I've had deer as close as 5 feet and they never knew I was there...;)
|
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
I think I'll give vanilla a try. I asked a friend if he had heard about use vanilla as an attractant. He said he has tried it and it worked for him. He said just make sure you stick your scent bomb in a bush or hanging in on a branch or the deer will stomp the scent bomb to get at the attractant. I also read an article about using vanilla, licorice or anise as an attractant.

RE: Vanilla Extract :)
Never heard of it but I'll try it as well. Seems that there is something to it.
|
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
I tried it for the first time this year... .I didnt put it straight i cut it with a 12 oz. bottle of apple cider then soaked cotton balls and placed them into used film canisters and planted them 5o ft around my stand....... Long story short... Freezer is full. ;-) |
RE: Vanilla Extract :)
I have used it for years with great success, I go to mexican stores and buy the vanilla, it is stonger and get a qt. bottle for about $5 dollars , also i do not dilute it.
