Another Idiot in the Pa. Woods
I have not been to my pop up deer blind since I shot my buck. The snow and ice has prevented me from getting there ,due to my physical condition. I ventured there yesterday,it took me 45 minutes to go 500 yards with my flintlock. When I arrived I found my ground blind all cut up with a knife and my sports chair wrapped around a tree. This is on private property only I have permission to hunt. I found empty slug casings and food wrappers. And a message carved in the tree. "Your A idiot old man,you shot my buck."Just another friendly neighbor!!!!!! I get so disgusted with the attitude of many Pa Hunters.

Cardeer,
I don't mean to sound rude, but, how can you have all of this stuff happening? I have seen a few bad incidents while hunting here in Pa, but, it just seems to occur to you on a daily basis. The way it sounds is that 95% of the slob hunters in Pennsylvania live/hunt near you and dislike you. My first year hunting, I shot a big 10 point early in the morning, I watched it run and fall over, then, a guy near it, shot it when it fell, and said it was his. He ended up taking the deer because, I was 12, and I didn't want an altercation. I have had a few people hunt on my property without permission, but, only one of them knew what they were doing. I don't know, but, if this stuff is occuring to you, I would take legal action or move. I would keep my Glock handy. That young man seems out of control.

White deer, monster bucks, bullets through the blind, threatening notes, blinds slashed up, concussions, falls, poaching, antlered
does <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>, I'd find a more realis..er..relaxing place to hunt. "In heaven, even the fish have antlers" |
RE: Another Idiot in the Pa. Woods
I've been hunting in PA for 22 years and never had a bad experience with another hunter. I've heard of a few stories about squabbles over who shot the deer and even two about deer being stolen, but that happens in every state. All the hunters I know of in PA are good people. Of course there are a few bad apples but, out of 1,000,000 hunters, that's not to bad. Don't mean to dispute your post, I just don't want people from other states thinking we are all a bunch of losers.

Buck magnet you dont live next to Pilthy delpia. Barnes your close to philly. years ago i use to eat at that old Collegeville resturant. I dont know if you hunt in the area or not.If you do and have private land that is not disturbed I'm glad for you.I have to clean up every morning just from slobs that throw bottles and beer cans out all the time in the yard. I and people I know have had treestands stolen all the time.I would just one year like to have all the the members come hunt hear in Chester county next to the state No Gamelands on the first day of any season and see if yo would ever come back. Every tree has a orange suit around it or you say high to several dozen hunters in a day as they walk under yuor stand and say HI ,Whats up. The first day of the pa rifle season I had at least 20 people walk past me on private land by 9:00am.Bow season is a little better.Collegeville aint far from me.I'm in elverson.I really dont think I'm going to buy a license next year in Pa. You all can have the place. I will either not hunt or save my pennies for a hunt in the South somewhere, in Warm climate and warm people . Barnes you know the Southeast of pa is a nightmare in general to try and hunt in a private atmosphere.!! If you have private land to hunt on and its not yours ,you better go give them people a big hug to night. You dont know the bandits around here. they will run deer over with their prepared vehicles just to say I got one.

You're talking about the Collegeville Inn (it used to be the Smorgasbord). I've eaten there a few times. I do most of my hunting upstate. I hunt Evansburg and Schwenksville for dove and pheasant and occasionally archery and the late season for deer. We have been heading north for deer camp every year since I started hunting. Yeah, it is way more crowded down here. I go upstate mostly to get away and hang out with nature and my hunting buddies. A buddy of mine has a few acres bordering Valley Forge Park where I can hunt archery. I'm sure I'll be over there a few times next year. Never for the opener. I just prefer to be up in the sticks. Deer camp's a tradition, too. You should try hunting up in Sullivan County. SGL 13 is about 20,000 acres of deep woods hunting. Not too many orange jackets up there. Too much area to cover.

Your trouble never started until you refused to cut that womans grass at the house with the red door. She offerred you sex for the mowing, and when you refused it offended her and I bet she is the one tearing up your blind and leaving those nasty notes around. She will go to any extreme to get that body..
