I currently live in PA where they have the antler restrictions and i think its a good thing. Ive been seeing larger deer because of it. I lived in AL and hunted alot in FL, GA, and MS and they all have small deer there unless you go to a ranch. In PA the average deer is 6 to 8 points. Down there the average deer as lucky to make it to 4 points.
PA it worked very well. My friend from Warren Co is just so happy with the program.

Unfortunatly, here in MAwe don't have the herd or habitat to work with that you guys had. But I still would support AR in the western end of our state, but it would need to be combined with habitat work.

very few small bucks around here in ma. If its brown its down is kind of how it is around here bc if you dont kill it someone eles DEF will. Thats why i started this to see how many guys would love to do this.. I would def let a 4 or a small 6 pointer walk if i knew they would make it and grow up.

I really think if you could control the poching in the Western part of the state this would really help the heard. The winters are rough and the forresting practices need improving. It would be a huge help if the state opened more areas for logging and letting more light in to support more browse. This would be a win win situation. The lumber Co. has the lumber and the state makes money, and the deer get more browsing.

exactly... if everyone would subscribe to this then it may have a chance... unfortunately, I don't think people would.
I do believe they should cut the amount of doe permits down in the Western zones... or at least reevalute the populations in each zone. They give out tons of zone 3 doe permits... and hardly any zone 2. I see alot more doe in 2 than 3!

Odd, I see way more in 3 than 2. I agree that the wholemgt needs to be reevaluated west of the CT river, but F & G seems to not want to. Habitat work is the biggest need and selective logging can help. They where out last season working on the poachers some, but its still happening... Doe permits need to come way down.

They are doing some logging. There is a plan for some land mgt posted on MA F & G.
