First take a hunter safety course and familiarize yourself with the safe operation and handling of guns. Then go chase some squirrels.

You have some nice guns for just starting out. I would learn first on small game like squirrels, rabbits and game birds and then graduate up to something larger. A 20 ga shotgun can be a great small game gun and can be bought quite cheaply if you get a single shot. Good luck and be glad because you are in for a lifetime of fun.

i would say go for turkey b/c the season is coming up soon, or maybe it already started in WV. they're a challenge so don't be discouraged if you come up empty handed. you got a 12ga, get some camo and a call, do some practicing and go for it. once you hear them calling back to you you'll be hooked.;)

Turkeys would be a good choice, but if I were you, pair up with someone who knows where they are and can call them in for you. It's a gret beginner sport to try. Then start thinking about squirrels in the fall.

you don't need a .17 or a .22 to go after squirrels , you can use the 12 guage on them , alot of people around here do.
you could try some small game with that 12 guage like rabbits or pheasants ( if they're available in your area ).
