HMMM

Buck kill is up by 12.5%

Doe kill down by 3.5% with 2% less doe permits issued.

Looks like maybe the herd has stabilized.
Yes I agree!! All done with less hunters in the woods, imagine that!! Maybe now we can move forward insteadof always lookign behind!!

i really don't care to much about the reports actually. Just keep the tags comming and again this year our party will end up 30 tags and they all will be filled again by the party members. we will just keep doing what others don't. That is to move around our WMU putting drives on till we fill them. last year 15 of us got38 deer 30 does and buttons combined along with8 bucks. Just have to get in a party and drive the hell out of every swamp and thicket you can find in your WMU. You will find the deer if your with a motivated group of hunters. we drove inner city limits and pushed the deer into a near by woods across the main road and blasted them. another thing, most the deer we got would of never been killed by other hunters because the deer would not move out of these areas on their own. so we did not take any deer from anyone who is ready to cry about the amount of deer we took out of non hunting areas.

Will we see a change in the deer season'sconsidering the herd has stabilized?

Why would we?They were looking to stabilize the herd so things will most likely be similar to last year.

I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not.

No sarcasm. They were aiming to stabilize the herd.If last years allocations and seasons resulted in a stabilized herd,we'll most likely see a similar plan this year. That would be my guess.

Quite interesting. But have you thought about multiple tags being issued and how many of these report cards been sent in by one person?
Say people filled all three of their tags and sent in 3 report cards. Now this would actually lower the numbers of "hunters" who actually harvested deers.
So you see some people might think many hunters was successful during the season. I think they should start doing a report on hunters success to really get a general idea about how many hunters are actually seeing and harvesting deer. Just because the kills are high does not mean that all hunters are doing the same as the ones who are tagging and reporting three kills.
I think this is where the concern is about and should be focused on. Maybe there is to much focus on the deer numbers and not the hunters their selfs. If the PGC could give a percent of how many of the hunters sent in two or three report cards this could give us a better idea on the deer herd numbers in general.

May I say again that just because the number of deer harvest are high doesn't mean the success of many hunters are also high. This is the problem here in Pa. This is what the frustration is about. I do not see this situation with hunter and the PGC getting any better until they get to the heart of the matter. This is about all the hunters here in Pa.

Take the report cards that was sent in and subtract a percentage of the same hunters who sent in two or three cards. That is not very manysuccessful hunters in my book out of how many license been sold?

Just a thought to ponder on why many hunters are talking about the deer herds.

Dan,the report cards are crosschecked with tags at butchers shops, camps and from random field checks. If a guy has 2 or 3 deer at a butcher shop, that's all calculated in.

It's always been that a certain percentage of hunters kill the most deer.

I expect the allocations will stay pretty much the same.IMO 2G will see an increase.
