Here are a few pictures I took at a couple of the local Taxidermist shops of bucks taking in Elk, Jeffersonor Clearfield County of Pennsylvania during the 2006 season.
The local Taxidermists reported their best ever year for bucks being brought in. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

There is no BS about that post or the bucks in the pictures. Those pictures were all taken last month of bucks harvested around this area of the state last season.
The biggest buck, the one with the drop tine, was at Cessna’s Taxidermy and had been harvested in southern Clearfield County. The other buck pictures were at either Cessna’s or Delullos’ Backwoods Taxidermy and had been taken in one of the local counties. Most of the bucks were taken in Elk, Jefferson or Clearfield County though there were a few in the shop that had been taken in a few of the other surrounding counties. Here are a few other facts of interest. Both Taxidermists saved buck jaws for me last fall by removing the jawbone and placing it in a bag with the county and unit of kill and the number of points and antler spread for each buck’s jawbone. With that I could evaluate the points and spread for each age class. I could also get an idea of the percentage of each age being taken to the taxidermists. They collected 260 jawbones and antler data and I sat down and put an age with each bucks antlers. Here the results of those age groups. The majority of the bucks came from one of four units so I will post the data for each of those units and then for the entire area bucks.
