How Do We Know If It Is Really A Pa Deer?????
When you decide to have a rack scored weather it be with P&Y Or B&C or the scoring session the PGC has how do they know the deer were really shot In pa.? I've seen guys that took there grandads deer in already that was really shot in the state. But over the years the tag was lost. They never demanded a tag ,just scored it and it went in to the PGC books. How do they know if they were really shot with a bow,gun or muzzy? I know of a guy that took his canadian deer in to the PGC scoring session and listed it as a Pa bow kill, now his name ranks high on the list.He is a great bow hunter, salute him,NOT!

I actually saw a TV show once on something similar to this. The game wardens actually took a sample from the deers antlers and tested it, to show what minerals, and trace elements were found in the antler. They then could trace the deer to see where these nutrients were found.
In this instance on this show, a guy shot a trophy buck in Wisconsin, and tried to have it scored or something in Michigan. Somewhere along the way, something went fishy, and they checked his deer out. They determined that certain minerals found in its antlers were only found in Winsconsin soils on the other side of this river, and not where he claims to have shot it in Michigan.

if the PGC has the funds to do DNA testing on deer racks .then they shouldn't have any problem opening smaller deer units, manning check stations, increasing WCO numbers, etc.

Though I don't know if they actually utilize it I do know that what catskillhuntr stated is true.
Maybe it is just on "record breaking" bucks that they spend the time and money but I know they have the technology to find out..one way or the other.

I guess you don't know sometimes they rely on honest hunters but if it is going to be a record some will try anything to make a name for themselves.Cardeer you should remember a big name bow hunter called Noel Feather. He had all kinds of records on deer for archery. He had his own company with all kinds of videos, lures etc.He got caught shooting trophy deer from one state and brought them into his own state and they went into the record books. They pulled everyone they could prove and the ones he admitted to including the videos. He lost his reputation and business from it when have you seen any product from Noel Feather on the shelf lately.

In the case of Noel Feather, your info is not real accurate! He shot a whitetail buck on a texas high fence game farm. No license was required. He asked the owner of the farm specifically if he needed anything to transport the deer into his home state? The answer he got was no. As it turned out, he got stopped in a routine game check in another state, and was fined for transporting the deer across state lines without proper paperwork. All charges related to this cause were eventually dismissed. He then took one year off from the sport show scene, before returning to it. But he did not feel the same about it, since that incident.

I hate to disagree but at least 6 or 7 of his records from P&Y and B&C were taken off the record books along with the videos the deer were in that were shot.It was not a one deer incident although maybe the one you are talking about could be true.I followed Noel feather and fred bear and bought many products from them. You don't give up record book deer just to take off for a year and give up a money making business like he had for a mistake someone else made.I still see fred bears products around even after he died.Believe me Noel Feather was caught red handed and admitted to the 6 or 7 trophies and they were pulled out of the record books.
I read more then a couple articles in hunting magazines after it happened.
