Any pics, posts and deer reports for the Southern Tier Opener today?

My group toom a 6 point. Not mine but I would have shot him.

i saw 23 deer, a button buck, oddity spike/more who knows it was strange lookin. and a 6 ptr that I got....hopefully have pic up later great day in the woods in 5n

when you are replying, hit the button ont he top right that looks kinda like a post card, and then paste your address in there, and it will put the picture right in the post.

as for me i havent been out this weekend, i go to school in the southern teir and hunt up north. i got a call this morning from my dad saying he shot the 8pt that busted me last weekend. If i was home i would have been hunting right there this morning. Why coudlt that buck stay hidden fror 2 more days until i get home? just glad my dad got him and not some of the crazy poachers we have running around. sorry no pics, when he called he hadnt had time yet to hang it or anything. Ill tell my mom to email the pics when she can.

wow you guys are lucky, i had the worse weekend ever in 3h, between 5 guys and 2 full days hunting we saw ZERO deer, all the deer are completly nocturnal, i have 4 diff bucks on my trail cam in the middle of the night!!!

We saw two bucks saturday. My brother in law didnt have a good shot at one so he passed. I just saw one Doe yesterday and a Coyote. I had two does areound me for about 45 minutes today. Had some fun with one. I used my grunt tube after it went past. To my supirse, it it turned around and came back to me!

We did see more movement today. Maybe tomorrow!

We went out Sat... Saw a few does... No doe tags for that zone. One guy shot a spike yesterday.

Sat my son in a spot I've had good luck in the past and at 7:05 of his first gun season.Bang!!!!!!

is that the bullet wound near the eye?

He shot it through the top of the lungs and droppedit, then it started to try and get up so he shot it in the head,from his stand.Yes that's a bullet hole.

geez, its amazing, in some spots of ny you guys get all the deer, where i hunt i dont even see one during the day, maybe when it gets colder :eek:

A buddie of mine got tired in sitting in his stand,so sunday about 10am decided to take a short walk and got a 7 pointer,seem the deer heards are still light even after a few years of no doe hunting.

Didn't get to pull the trigger this weekend...but still had my best opener in years here in 8P & 8R. Saw6 bucks and a bunch of does yest...passed on a couple of small bucks and a couple of big does (no DMP's for this unit). We were in the back of the truck setting up a drive about 10:00 yest. and there was an absoluteMONSTER standing out in the neighbors field tending a doe. Don't know how many points he had but he was a huge bodied deer with a really tall and wide rack...without a doubt the biggest buck that I've ever seen during open season. The funny thing is, they apparently were bedding in a small swampy patch of brush/goldenrod within 100 yds. of a cabin with 4-wheelers driving all around them! The image of him turning around and going back into the goldenroad is still etched into my mind. Saw a couple more nice bucks but couldn't get a clean shot on either. Had a nice buck grunting and chasing does out in front of me during a drive this morning. The 4 does came within a few yards of me and spooked causing the buck to stop behind some brush where I couldn't shoot. I've heard of a few big bucks getting taken in the area, including a real nice 10-pt. and a 21" 11-pt. just up the road and a monster 24" 10-pt. on the winery property that I hunt. Still lots of bucks out there for the taking. I've got until Sat. off so I plan on doing some serious hunting this week.

Slow here too - A couple passed deer - and one 4 point shot by our group on opening day. Nothing big taken nearby that I know of yet - but there was LOTS of shooting around - I'd say 2 years of no Doe permits was catching up.
