P&Y time in NY...
 

I thought that I'd post a few pics. of a nice 2006 NY archery deer (Steuben County). Its not my tagtied aroundthis guy's beam...rather, my uncle took this buck Fri. afternoon. Not a bad first bowkill. I wish he had a little longer tines, but he still grosses 142" and nets around 135" thanks to really good mass which can't be seen too well in this pics (6 measurements are over 4.5"). This deer was actually missing his right eye, had several gouge marks on his head / face and had all kinds on tines marks and bruises all over his body and neck.My uncle actuallymissed a bigger buck Thurs. afternoon andthen got a trail cam photo of him a few hours later working a scrape. He's hoping to get a crack at him with his TC Omega this coming weekend.

142 gross, 135 net? Is that a actual rough score, or a estimate. He's definitly a real nice deer, but I don't see him scoring that high myself. Of course I'm going by your pics, and I know how decieving pics can be, and not do it justice. Either way he's a trophy in my book!

On first glance it looks a bit smaller than a 140 class, but pics are no substitute for real hands-on proof. I can see the mass though, what deductions were taken? I'd also like to know his spreads.

I personally love brow tines like that. Makeshim very unique, that and the one eyed part....Boy that has to be a great story:D

Uncle can't hit a buck with two eyes, so he has to go out the next day and pick on one with only one eye!

These are my own measurements. My uncle took him to an officialscorer on Sat. Hisnumbers were within a few eighths of mine (I used his pencil marks.)The official scorer's sheet is supposed to come in the mail tom. I don't know how much it will shrink during the 60 days. Again, I held the rack on the way home from the taxidermists tonight and its alot more massive that the photos appear to make it. What kinda surprises me is how young the deer was...I'd guess 3.5, possibly 4.5 at the most.

Good job on the scoring. I like to score my own as well. Far as the age you'd have to measure the 1st molar from the gum line to the lingual crests in millimeters to be sure of his age. That would be the 4th tooth in line. The first 3 are premolars. If he's 3.5 the measurement would be 6-7mm. If he's 4.5 it'd be 5-6mm.
When I was in college I had to do volunteer work with the DEC at deer check stations. So I got to age several deer. I also kept my aging charts for my own personal use.
