I doubt it's a PA deer. If it is, the hunter is taking one heck of a chance of having it confiscated and getting a fine because this pic very clearly shows that it is not tagged anywhere. I doubt he would take that chance and put it on the net to boot.

It only needs to be tagged to transport. Once the guy gets it home he can remove the tag.

The act of cutting a slit in the ear of a trophy buck really chaps me.
We use a really big safety pin and poke just one hole in the lower ear canal.
Attach your tag andpush it up inside the ear canal and you are good to go.
One little hole needs no repair. A big ragged slit in an ear is a Taxidermists worst nightmare.
The thin hairless skin of an ear is tough to sew in an appealing fashion.
The repair can always be seen. PA laws really bewilder me sometimes.

Nope. the tag must stay on till it's processed/

Actually unless going to taxidermist tag is supposed to accompanied with deer even after processing and then if going to taxidermist I believe he records all tag numbers and info and returns tag to accompany deer. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong interesting situation might be nice to know for sure!
