RE: Hey PA boys........

Great buck but one question??? Why is the deer not gutted??? Seems kind dumb to me to drag all the extra weight.

livbucks 10-10-2006 05:17 PM

RE: Hey PA boys........

I once saw a guy drop a big buck off at my butcher's place that wasn't gutted. That was a funny one. He got a big box of entrails back, and an extra charge on his bill, BTW.

RE: Hey PA boys........

Sure is alot of green leaves in that picture.;)

Where in PA? I am guessing southwestern PA........

Great buck.......

NY Bowhunter 10-11-2006 04:23 AM

RE: Hey PA boys........

He took it in the town of Ligonier (sp) ? And i have no clue why it's not gutted [8D]

BTBowhunter 10-11-2006 06:01 AM

RE: Hey PA boys........

Thats a slammer alright! The Ligonier area has always been good but now that we let em get a little older once in awhile it's even better. Do you know if he got the deer aged?

livbucks 10-11-2006 06:55 AM

RE: Hey PA boys........

That deer looks bloated, he's probably afraid to pop that sucker open.

Thats one for the wall, nice buck.

Not trying to be a troublemaker, but I cant seem to see a tag in the photo. NYB, are you sure you know the origin of the photo?

NY Bowhunter 10-12-2006 05:26 AM

RE: Hey PA boys........

LOL I have no clue about the particulars of the buck or the dude that shot it. All I know is I opened my e-mail and my saw my brother sent me a picture of a guythat works for him and a buck he shot.[:-][8D] For all I know it could be roadkill. Nice buck though[8D].

Here's a dandy from Lycoming County PA. Supposed to be a record of sorts for "A Typical"/"Non Typical" Deer ???

BTW - I got the pic(3 pics) from my wife at work via F&W.

livbucks 10-12-2006 09:28 AM

RE: Hey PA boys........

That is indeed nontypical. It has the body of another deer growing out of it's hind end.:D

That pic looks alot like the one that was supposedly from Kentucky.

Well it makes a lot of difference if someone's passing it off as a PA deer.
Can't read the license plate, and how come neither of these deer are tagged?

If your from PA and feel its a fraud of some sort - Prove It thru some simple research. I gave you all the county in PA, at least that's what I was told.

Whats with the pics in the back of the trucks. I dont get it

RE: Hey PA boys........

I believe everything I read on the internet...

That's a heck of a buck. I get pictures in my email like that all the time. I generally remove the description of where the deer was killed when I forward it along unless I know the source of the information.

Just last week there was one circulating around about the new world record elk being shot by a bowhunter, complete with description of where and when. I snooped around and low and behold it was bogus. Turns out the bull was a breeder from a game farm that was trying to bepassed off as a new potential B&C record. I found pictures of the thing eating out of a food bowl while still in velvet.

You all do what you want, but I won't post up a picture here or anywhere else claiming this or that unless I know 100% it is true or comes with a disclaimer. To do otherwise just has the potential to perpetuate misinformation.

RE: Hey PA boys........

Man oh man you PA guys certainly are an exciteable bunch [:-][8D]. I didn't realize a pic of a buck would turn into the likes of a NY mountain lion debate. I suppose I could try to find out some more info on the buck if that would ease some of your minds [:-]. As far as the source? Not sure how much more believable it can get than your own brother? The guy is a cook and works for my brother. He brought him some pictures and my brother wanted to show me so he sent me an e-mail. So what questions would you like answered about this buck? Where are the tags? Why isn't it gutted? Why the pictures in the back of a truck? What else?

Easy. Was just in Lycoming County yesterday. In Pa, the leaves aren't all off the trees yet like they are in that photo.

Looks like anter restrictions are doing something right in Ligonier. Congrats to your friend and good luck when you get out.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post. I wasn't referring to the picture you posted since you have first hand knowledge of that kill. To me that is credible.

My post was not really directed at anyone. It was more of a commentary on how easy it is for misinformation to be passed along here in the days of the internet if people blindly accept the truth when receiving pictures through email claiming this or that. Snopes.com is full of internet myths...

Sorry to hijack you post man. Good luck when you come down this way. Ligonier is a nice area. Beautiful country.

BTBowhunter 10-13-2006 09:42 AM

RE: Hey PA boys........

I was the first one to ask about the tag so If I started something I apologize.

To me it doesnt really matter where they came from, they're still awesome bucks!!!

I dont think its that most folks here arethat excitable as it is that we've all seen photos like this that turned out to beclaimed by several states on various boards. The lack of a PA tag, whichusually sticks out like a sore thumb, was a valid question but it I suppose could be tucked inside the ear. All I asked was are you use of the origin. It sounds like you are reasonably sure, so question answered in my book.

AJ52, I dont live anywhere near Lycoming County and I didnt notice the bare trees till MtnMeadow pointed it outbut I havent been anywhere in PA that the trees are that bare yet.I think he raises a fair point. How well do you know and trust the source? I suppose the tag could be in the ear on this one as well but I'd be damned if I'd poke a hole in the ear of that beast!

i am the same way, i don't care where they are from they are nice bucks. about the bare trees, here is a pic i just tooktoday, this is State College a little over an hour from Lycoming County

I was just going to post this because this is what I do. I cut a slit in the ear to run a piece of shoe lace through and tie on the tag tucked in as faras I can because I once dragged a deer over a mile out of the woods to find that I lost the tag on the drag........what a PITA. I had to hike the whole way in as sun was setting to find it.

4 of my roommates live in ligonier.....we hunted one place that had some nice bucks there!

RE: Hey PA boys........

Good Question(s). I have no idea when it was shot - yr or decade.Don't really care. All I know is it was stated in an e-mail that it was shot in the county in PA I mentioned. That's why I posted it here.

Again - a little research should clear it up. If not I'll delete the pic.
I sure wouldn't post pic of deer that wasn't shot in PA or might be illegal

bearklr 10-13-2006 02:36 PM

RE: Hey PA boys........

AJ, just fingured I'd look it up and see what I can come up with on that buck. Personally I could care less where it was shot it's still a heck of a deer but thought it would stop a huge debate before it started.;)

Here's som info on it.

Shot 11-26-04
field dressed 215lbs
Hunter--Roger Broyles
150 yd shoot.
county--Livingston Kentucky
total points 24

another link

and here's a link that even explains the rumor of the buck being a lycoming county deer and explains the truth as well.

Hope all of this helps

Great job “bearklr”!

Comment:
It seems like we have just established a new precedent. In the past it seemed it was always up to the poster to prove the information he posted was legitimate. Now it appears that burden of proof has shifted to the rest of the user community to prove that the poster’s information is legitimate or not.
Some folksare going to have a field day with this new "man law"!

RE: Hey PA boys........

Wow - that was quick easy.Good Research

Now - I have advised my wife the pic is a PA hoax/fraud.Found out when I pushed for details that her boss in State Parks (not F&W) received e-mail from his buddy in PA saying it was a PA deer etc...etc.. Seeing how wifes boss is oringanly from PA and part owner of long time family hunting camp up there he wanted wife to print pics(there are 3) on her super duper printer.

So there's the scoop.

Nice Deer where ever it's from.I really had my doubts on this.I know from reading here there can't possibly be any deer in PA with head gear like that.If so - probably only 3-4 in the whole state
