I believe everything I read on the internet...

That's a heck of a buck. I get pictures in my email like that all the time. I generally remove the description of where the deer was killed when I forward it along unless I know the source of the information.

Just last week there was one circulating around about the new world record elk being shot by a bowhunter, complete with description of where and when. I snooped around and low and behold it was bogus. Turns out the bull was a breeder from a game farm that was trying to bepassed off as a new potential B&C record. I found pictures of the thing eating out of a food bowl while still in velvet.

You all do what you want, but I won't post up a picture here or anywhere else claiming this or that unless I know 100% it is true or comes with a disclaimer. To do otherwise just has the potential to perpetuate misinformation.

Man oh man you PA guys certainly are an exciteable bunch [:-][8D]. I didn't realize a pic of a buck would turn into the likes of a NY mountain lion debate. I suppose I could try to find out some more info on the buck if that would ease some of your minds [:-]. As far as the source? Not sure how much more believable it can get than your own brother? The guy is a cook and works for my brother. He brought him some pictures and my brother wanted to show me so he sent me an e-mail. So what questions would you like answered about this buck? Where are the tags? Why isn't it gutted? Why the pictures in the back of a truck? What else?

If your from PA and feel its a fraud of some sort - Prove It thru some simple research. I gave you all the county in PA, at least that's what I was told.
Easy. Was just in Lycoming County yesterday. In Pa, the leaves aren't all off the trees yet like they are in that photo.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post. I wasn't referring to the picture you posted since you have first hand knowledge of that kill. To me that is credible.

My post was not really directed at anyone. It was more of a commentary on how easy it is for misinformation to be passed along here in the days of the internet if people blindly accept the truth when receiving pictures through email claiming this or that. Snopes.com is full of internet myths...

Sorry to hijack you post man. Good luck when you come down this way. Ligonier is a nice area. Beautiful country.

I was the first one to ask about the tag so If I started something I apologize.

To me it doesnt really matter where they came from, they're still awesome bucks!!!

I dont think its that most folks here arethat excitable as it is that we've all seen photos like this that turned out to beclaimed by several states on various boards. The lack of a PA tag, whichusually sticks out like a sore thumb, was a valid question but it I suppose could be tucked inside the ear. All I asked was are you use of the origin. It sounds like you are reasonably sure, so question answered in my book.

AJ52, I dont live anywhere near Lycoming County and I didnt notice the bare trees till MtnMeadow pointed it outbut I havent been anywhere in PA that the trees are that bare yet.I think he raises a fair point. How well do you know and trust the source? I suppose the tag could be in the ear on this one as well but I'd be damned if I'd poke a hole in the ear of that beast!

I was just going to post this because this is what I do. I cut a slit in the ear to run a piece of shoe lace through and tie on the tag tucked in as faras I can because I once dragged a deer over a mile out of the woods to find that I lost the tag on the drag........what a PITA. I had to hike the whole way in as sun was setting to find it.
