Tomhannock resevoir area
 

hey guys- just scored permission to hunt some SERIOUS acerage surrounding the north side of the tomhannock res. here in upstate NY.

miles of cornfields surrounded by hickory and oaks, any of you have any input on this area? i got the tour today by the land owner, but that was by ATV's, need a few more trips out there to get the feel of it. seems like alot of deer and turkey sign, he sees tons of geese when the corn is cut, looks good!

i'd appreciate any insight into this area , if anyone's been out that way.

Get ready to have some fun. That is a great area to have access to. I used to hunt around Buskirk, but the farm I hunted was sold, so no more hunting there. We used to take cruises in the summer all the way over to Scaghticoke on RT67A, you would not believe how many deer we saw. The only suggestion I can make is to get a big freezer, you should have no trouble filling your tags.

I fish the reservoir. Greatarea for deer and turks. The res is closed to hunting, but man wouldI would love to hunt the surrounding farms.

i am pretty excited about this land, you could cast to the resevoir from the farmers fields....thinking i might be in for some good goose hunting.

You'll have all the waterfowl you could want. When the geese are flying, the water around the RT7 causeway is literally black with geese. I'm sure they are on the rest of the lake also.
