I like the idea of a questionnaire with the purchase of a hunting license! As far as the silent majority in regards to crossbows, I`m not sure that is the case at all. It may be. If it is the case, maybe those people should be less silent! This is just my personal opinion now, but I think that if very many people would be vocal in their support of crossbows in archery season, we will find out very quickly just how many people truly do NOT support it!

Is this a revamped thread from last year about this time? Same old song, just a new day?

I like your idea BT about having muzzleloaders and crossbows in the same season.....

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Heres a thought, if support grows for the crossbow, make it a legal weapon and run the season along with the smoke poles and call it primitive weapon season.

Doggone it!The game commission is at it again! They wasted their time having a professional survey done. They asked all those people (the number IS there if you read it) and spent all that money when all they had to do was send a guy out to look around at pro shop walls, talk to a few whiners and look around at the gazillion guys that got a disabled permit. I'd have never guessed that getting to the silent majority would be so simple!

Thanks Frank, I still worry hat the crossbow manufacturers lobby isn't going to quit. Putting em in with the ML's would allow us to monitor their effectivenesss, popularity, and biological impact without taking an irreversible step. I think the biological impact would be about the same as the smoke poles under those circumstances. JMHO!

I have a feeling that crossbows are coming NO MATTER WHAT WE SAY. I heard that the crossbow manufacturers said at the PGC meeting, "If you won't approve crossbows for the general public, at least approve them for women and people over 65, since they have a hard time pulling back a compound bow." Give me a break. Poor me, I am just a weak woman, better buy me a crossbow. If I didn't dislike crossbows enough before, I despise them now.

Frank,

I got no problem whatsoever with the inlines as a "hunting tool". Just not as a ML. The purpose of a ML season was to represent the difficulty added to the the hunting situation vs a modern rifle. But the folks aren't happy with that. they want the special season and STILL have the same shot opportunities as a rifle, all while avoiding the complexities of a Muzzle-loading firearm.

Heck...they are great single shot rifles...that require a bit more attention to detail to be successful consistently with it. But a Flintlock it is not.

Same concept with a Xbow. As a hunting weapon....who can deny it? But as a bow in "archery" season? Wrong animal.

Sorry about the woman-noises comment gents....didn't mean to offend anybody (except for those it was directed at heh heh). Its a commonly used term from a past life. Some things never go away

Jerry.....showing that to your wife would only cement her concentration on you "next time" you let one fly! LOL!!!

Ralph ; let's ASSUME your comment about inlines and crossbows holds some merit, which i agree it does. You are suggesting more seasons to accomodate such weapons. But when? Are archers willing to give up some of the time they hold a death grip on now to do this? Remember you also suggested expanding on that time from 9-1 to 2-1 .
Yet you say these weapons while viable shouldn't be allowed to share archery season.
Sorry ,but your suggestion still rings of" me first, my group is the most important,my season ,all for me"
Explain to me just why archers should get all this time ,yet other sporting weapons shouldn't get any.

Nope.....not true Terry. I distinctly said.....rifle season. That is where they belong. Currently, anybody can scope an inline and hunt just like me or you, or anybody that is carrying a thuddy-thuddy.

Let the Xbow hunt with the ML's...heh heh. Its closer to that than a bow anyway
