WV Bowhunters
How has everyone's season been?
I've taken two yearling whitetail does. MMMMMMMM......good eat'n. Holding off for a racked buck now. How's everyone else been? High Country Archery - "Driven to greater heights..." |
RE: WV Bowhunters
The "no nuts, no deer" syndrome has me staring at a dead zone when I clamber the 25 feet to my lofty perch. I might have to go corn and apples if I want to see anything, let alone shoot 'em!

RE: WV Bowhunters
I must be crazy because I have seen plenty of acrons. Maybe I'm "nuts" I don't know.

RE: WV Bowhunters
Yeah, I've seen lots of acorns where I hunt also. I didn't think there were that many...guess I was wrong. I've lost one deer this year I have also seen a nice 8 and have heard that there is another one in the same area. I haven't been out much lately, but that is going to end. You can bet I'll be out right after I get back from my college class Anyone seen any rutting activity?? Good Luck

RE: WV Bowhunters
I have seen no rutting behavior at all.....not even chasing as of Saturday. I'm off to a good start on the season....connected on two does (one was at the NRAO hunt and was a "bonus" deer) and a 6pt......so the end of Oct. and three in the freezer has me happy. Now I have one more tag to fill and I'm going to wait until the rut kicks in and look for a biggun'.......if no biggun' I'm going to get another doe off the property and try to help the herd a little more.
Turkeys have been going crazy lately....if you have a fall season, they have been very vocal. Good luck to you guys....... |

RE: WV Bowhunters
Jim,
I got some buddies who own property near there and say acorns are plentiful. I don't think they are too high up, though. In fact, Corridor H is going to go through his property... |
RE: WV Bowhunters
I finally shot a doe this past weekend. She came in to eat acorns and milled around for about 1/2 hr before coming in RIGHT below my stand. I shot her just behind the shoulder blades (straight down), hit lungs and broke her back. She dropped instantly and died in about 10 seconds. Good clean kill...
Now I'm looking for some horns. GOOD LUCK TO ALL! |
