I am about 99% positive deer don't eat hickory nuts. Squirrels however love them. I wouldn't bother trying to use them as deer feed.

Some things are true whether you believe them or not.

99% wrong wimp! On of my favorite stands is in a grove of hickory. The deer eat them up quickly. I don't know how they break the hulls so easily, but they do it rather well. Remember, deer eat a lot of hard nuts....their jaw structure is designed like a cow....built to pulverized.

my stand for a buck i want is ON a hickory tree lol...theres acorns and apples in my view too...and the beding area and they have to come by me to drink! i will be amazed if i dont see a deer...i think they like them hickory nuts..i seen them on the tree but not many on the ground telling me somethings eating them up...and the area has very few tree rats...i think they eat them..
