gunwalkr, its no RUMOR.not being smart at you, but i too have only seen this 1 mountain lion in all years i was in woods.i can only tell you, i SAW one and people i talked to are seasoned hunters like us.we know what a bobcat looks like, trust me, when you see a cougar or lion ,it will be something that you never saw in your life here in pa. woods. i had friend that is a real good archery hunter. he was in his stand in archery this year. a BIG mountian lion came right under his treestand.I TRUST this person with my life. his reputationis best. what sticks in my mind to this day is how that mountain lion ran.i could see tail twisting as he ran but it looked like a MONKEY running. your ever see how those monkeys ,orange ones run. THAT is exactly how that lion looked to me, and he was really moving after he saw me at 15th ft .he also screached at me too when he turned his head and saw me. i hope no one makes fun at last part of my statement but i am only giving you TRUTH of what i saw from hunter that has been at this for a long time here in pa. take care.

The person who gave the picture to the husband of thewoman who works with my wife said the people that gave his hunter partnerthe picture are good Christian people. You shouldn't make fun. It's like you are calling them liars. Everyone knows that the real liars are the PGC, Penn Stateand the NYDEC, not the people that know the lions are here and are just trying to let everyone else know too

bearklr, you have one AMAZING imagination! I've done a TON of hunting and trapping in the area of Lycoming Co. that youspeak of and I can assure you that there are NO cougars there! There ARE some pretty awesome bobcats there, though! I'm guessing that's what you saw, and if memory serves me correctly, cougars DO NOT carry their kills into trees! I think you are confusing cougars and leopards!

. My family has had a camp there since the late 1800's so I'll take the word of the 12 guys who saw the carcass and the three other guys who saw the cat over yours although I'm sure your ESP does come in handy.
I'm also sure cougars aren't known for carrying kills into trees and I'm not disputing convention. I'm simply stating what I KNOW I saw. Take it or leave it I don't care but don't presume to tell others what they saw.

Anything is possible so I won't say whether or not I think there may be a lion or two around. However, don't expect them to be popping up on trail cameras all over clinton county.A few yeras ago I hunted in a part of Colorado that had a high mountain lion concentration. The guy I hunted with, lived and guided in this area his entire life and only ever saw one. That's what kills me about this.People see them all over Pa where there supposedly isn't any and an experienced guide in Colorado never sees them even though he makes his living in the wilderness.Lions are reclusive and shy by nature so if one is showing itself with regularity,I'd say it's most likely a pet that got too big for someone.Otherwise,it would most likely avoid contact with humans.

doug, hello, can i politely disagree.lets take clinton county.i would say most sighting were within a 25 mile circle.that would include kettle creek, keating, hyner, bitumen, summerson mtn, lets say from reports that is about 25 miles. could 1 wild cougar cover all that territory,i dont know.then lets go towards state college where big cat. i love the CAT thing..from here to there you are looking at 60 miles,or about 15 or20 miles to lamar area.now on to LYCOMING CO.that is about 70 mile circle.could the SAME cougar from here be there? i dont know.if this cougar expert can get times and dates down,MAYBE he can show that this CAT ,as the PGC says cant be in 2 places at once.maybe he has brother or 2 ,i dont know. honestly without seeing one dead, i dont believe that these cougars are TAME CATS as the PGC is saying. look at the EASTERN COUGAR FOUNDATION PICK ABOVE and read about ones they found had claws and no tattoos. remember, PGC says coyotes are wild because they have no tattoos but i feel they werestockedin here to get rid of the fawns. no facts on that only a gut feeling on coyotes.take care.
