My brother had seen a mt lion in Delevan NY - I have posted to story many times on here so I will not go into details but the one thing he said about the mt lion that really amazed him besides it actually being there in the first place was the muscles in the front shoulders of the animal. He said that everytime it took a step you could distinctly see the muscles and the power it had in its legs. I would think that besides the overall size different between a bob cat and a mt lion this would be one of the determining features that an individual who truely saw a mt lion would notice. ( Not excluding the presence of an "actual" tail )

OK, here's a pic that should help. This pic is a little grainly as is the one posted here. It is the EXACT same color with very minimal markings and the body appears quite large, heck, even the face looks like a cougar at first glance. I hope this finally helps some people make a comparison.

that does look a lot like a mt lion but I definately would say bob cat if i saw the pic and wasn't told what it was. I guess the pic posted here is just not good enough to make a conclusive decision as to what the animal is - One of my brothers is into photography as a hobby and with the right lense and setup he could probably make a house cat look like a mt lion.

I guess it is back to the drawing board . . .

People see what they want to believe. There's no way anyone can say how big that animal is.Sproul says it's big and over 100lbs but it actually looks small to me.The camera was obviously set low on the tree and the vegitation doesn't appear to be high, yet it's taller than the animal. No one can make the determination from a picture aboit how much an animal weighs. In the original picture, you can see small black spots on the animals stomach. It doesn't have a long thick tail that would be seen if it was there. It has white patches on the back of it's ears and a tuft of fir on it's face. These are all defining characteristics of a bobcat.Bobcats look much sleaker in their summer coat than they do in their winter coat.I'm sure the original picture is much clearer than this picture and I'm willing to bet you'd be able to pick up more defining characteristics of a bobcat in it.There's no way that's a picture of a mountain lion and it proves once again how poor people are at identifying certain animals, especially the ones that probably don't exist in this state.

Look at the picture of the bobcat in Susquehanna county that was posted on here a couple months ago. That debate went on for 20 some pages and it was obviously a bobcat just like this picture.I couldn't believe the number of people that were convinced it was a mountain lion. Some actually thought it was a cross between a mountain lion and a bobcat.

What's really disturbing is that the media actually portrayed this as proof that mountain lions exist in this state.

Unless I misread it, I don't think they did that at all. Their caption was "Big Cat?" (note the question mark) and the text simply said that some unnamed person gave another unnamed person the picture who in turn gave it to the paper. The paper only said the unnamed personsaid it was a mountain lion. I didn't see anywhere where the paper backed the truthfullness of thestory at all. Am I wrong livbucks? You have the cut out from the paper and can see it more clearly than I.

But you're the same conspiracy theorist onthe other thread that claims the DEC stocked the coyotes and that you actually shot one with a tatoo on the inside of its lip. Most of us arestill laughing over that one, so when you enter this thread with your arrogant and we're all stupid attitude and claim you shot a mt. lion what do you think the chances are that anybody will believe you? I'd say you've done pretty well here. Only 12 posts and you've already lost all credibility. I can see you won't last long so Bye Bye!

I think he has also been seduced by a female bigfoot and has it on tape.

doug, the original picture was much more clear .as for distance, i wish i knew that to from camera to cat.it looks bigger in picture than any bobcat i ever saw.color, muscles, size is what convinced me it was also a cougar. i never even looked at tail.size and coloris what convinced me. doug, i can tell you that they do exist here as I SAW one, in person 15 ft ,reported to pgc, tail over 2 ft long, tiny head and big shoulders, orangish color and it had go-tee on its face and screached at me. so, now you know they are here but believe what you want.every bobcat picture i see is not that ORANGEISH COLOR OF THE FUR.maybe some can comment if they have a picture of a orangeish bobcat they can put on here.one without black markings on its legs and stomach.take care
