I think it fits in the same category as the mountain lions and the coyotes with AFLAC tatooed in their ears.

Did you even read any of the posts? It was already stated that there have been a few bear on record over 800 lbs taken in Pa. It also cracks me up when people say things like "that's way too big to be a Pa bear":DI mean, what factual evidence do people have that prove Pa has small bears. I have seen plenty that prove the opposite but none that proves we are a small bear state. I guess I have to agree with Mossy to an extent...Mitch probably did make the rounds through Pa but as he was stocking those yotes and lions he must have been stocking monster bear from Canada...I mean how else could those boars have got here, there's no way they grew up in Pa;):D

Hard to believe for sure, but I'd love to see a picture just the same.

I saw a bear track this year that blew my mind. It's hind track was bigger than my size thirteen boot, and we don't have grizzlies in Maine! I'm sure it wouldn't even be close to 1000 pounds, but I have to wonder what it would weigh.

When you guys go to Game Commission headquarters next month to testify about the deer thingy, take a look at the bear they have mounted there. It was shot illegally, I think in Lycoming County, and is quite impressive.
When you go to the link below, scroll down to see what they have to say about this bear. The whole article makes interesting reading.

paturk,
That bear has been on loan to Cabela's in Hamburg since it opened. They will have to go there unless it was recently returned.

Didn't know that, T. Thanks for the correction. The bear in question was at the time the second on the Boone and Crockett list.
