Rwalter... Where do you get a map with the state lands on it? I have the purple cover DEC map but it doesn't have the state land very descriptive , just a light green blob here and there and I am sure it has missed a lot of places. I also have the NY atlas which is pretty helpful but again doesn't really show state lands. I am looking ot hunt either around Ellicotville or south of Humphrey the maps show larger tracts of state land. I really just want to go south and do some exploring/hunting/scouting sometime this season...Any suggestions would be appreciated, from anyone....

Mountain goat 36, Boyce hill is just a 10 minute drive from e-ville its on route 242 just head towards machais its on the right side of 242 there is 900 acres great place to hunt. Also look for bakerstand road (if you see it you went to far) its also off 242 this road also borders the stateland. There is a sign thats says "road closed but pay it no mind just make the right off 242 onto that dirt/gravel road and follow it back a bit, stateland is on the left.. Good luck,

Pick up one of the tourism books that Catt County has put out. In the center of the book there should be a map that you can pull out and carry with you at all times. Its a full size map that has all the state forest lands marked on it. Now it doesn't have the names of each forest on it but they are marked in green. You can then look at the following list, most of the forests are named after roads or creeks that run through them. There is a lot more in Catt County that I didn't even list. I only listed the ones close to Salamanca. If you looking for a place to hunt I would be willing to take you down to a couple of place that I know. I also own some property bordering state land. I'm always looking for people to hunt with. Most of the time I end up huniting alone. Just send me a private message if your interested.
Good luck

haha, RWK dont worry i'm takin some extra money to blow. The farm i'll be hunting with my dadis about 10 miles north of Salamanca i believe. Looks like we're gonna have some snow, that should be fun. Well good luck to everyone, i'm headin out early tomorrow morning from here at school (Bloomsburg University).
