18000 acres state park located in Tuxedo NY and surrounding areas. My friend hunts it but I never have hunted it. I think there may be some type of registeration and lottery system to hunt in sterling. Go to google and put in stering forest state park hunting. It will give you the web page.

My friend has hunted it on and off since the early 90's. He usaully bow hunts the area and doesn't shoot does or small bucks, therefore he has not taken that many since he wants only maturebucks.

MAtt,
I used to hunt Sterling Foresta lot. I always did very well there. It took me a few years of hunting and scouting(a lot of scouting) but you can get some fine deer out of there.Don't know how it's been lately as far as the number of hunters there, but get back into the woods. Should be better now since I haven't been there in about 4 years...;)

I hunt it regularly. You do need to do a good bit of scouting to really enjoy the land but, it pays off. The deer change their routes every year but, there are a few small farms around that keep them nearby. The place can get crowded pretty fast so scout and find your own hot spots, there are plenty that don't get used and that's where I stay.
PS: the park rangers are really cool too
