that is a big friggen deer, not jsut the amazing rack, but body size too. I doubt ill ever see anything close to that in NY or anywhere

Surprise surprise...it IS a NY deer. I've seen some real bruisers around Long Island (not quite like him....) but what gets me is the body size. LI deer RARELY get that big body wise (in my experience). He must be hunting on or close to Brookhaven labs (Nuclear research reactor on the property - heavily posted and guarded and only open to a select few hunters) By the way deer densities well in excess of 100/square mile. Yes 100.

Zoomer No clue. If you think that the Pine Barrens has big bodied deer you are wrong especially in the area you are talking about. LI deer get big bodies when they are near farm land and not in the Pine Barrens where they eat acorns when there are some and bushes and twigs. And I really hate that people assume that the deer was shot somewhere illegal and where others are not permitted to hunt. Why didn't you choose Werthiem or Fire Island instead?

werthhiem is legal to hunt this year from a few certain times this year. i am real curious as to where this buck was shot or at least what town. if you ask me i would have to say either east hampton southhampton or montauk on private land. But my guess is somewhere out that way in the hamptons

It's amazing there are deer that bigonland withdensities of 100/sq. mile. Everything must be food where they are located to support them because last time I checked, normal habitat would best suit densities around 20/sq. mile. Or someone has developed a nutritional drug like we have steroids for those looking for muscle mass that couldn't be attained naturally.

Did anyone notice that the bow seems extra large in the second & third picture? Also look how "clean" some the edges of the buck are. A little fishy. I never seen one that big down here. There was NOwrite up in the paper or local news. No story from the hunter on that link. I hope it's true but I am not convinced.:eek:

Guys, give the man the credit he deserves.The deer was taken out east on legal property w/permission and near farm land.DJbad is right!As for the size of the deer although not common,it does happen.I personally was on a hunt few years back where my buddy shot a beautiful 9 pont that dress out at 297lbs YES LONG ISLAND-The area in and around Brookhaven is loaded with deer but the body size isnt there.It doesnt mention the area where, because alot of you know once the word is out your spots are gone here on LI the word NO TRESSPASSING mean @#$%#$.The gent who shot that deer has taken many like it and is actually very modest.and NO I DONT HUNT WITH HIM/JUST NO OF HIM what a whopper MIKE

This buck proves how stupid B&C and P&Y scores are. This buck is more immense than many in the book. However, these scoring methods would say he's only a main frame 8 with lots of deductions. He's definitely mature and I'm sure the dominant buck where he lived.

You can say it but that deer wasn't killed behind a high fence and feeders are illegal in NY.

Sorry, I have one word for these images "PHOTOSHOP"...I hate to say it, but I work with graphics and that has some characteristics of being resized and cropped and some other stuff. I would like to think that is authentic but I am going to take the stand that it's a fake.

No clue huh? I NEVER said it was taken in an illegal area, or even illegally and I resent the insulting tone of your comments. I clearly indicated that my observations were "in my experience". After hunting all across New York state I can easily say that LI deer that I have seen dont even compare (body size/weight) to the deer I see in the Adirondacks or out in Steuben Co. for that matter.

And another thing....Can you explain how all the friends of the ranger at the Ridge check station get really low lottery numbers for the January gun season and convienently all hunt together on the 1st Thursday at Toppings Path.....hmmmmm. Yea...I dont have a clue
