I use at .270, but I wish I would have gotten a 7mm-08 or a .308 instead. Also, I recommend the Weatherby Vanguard for around $400.

I know the area you will be hunting very well, being from around the same location (9M). I will not be using a rifle due to the fact that in most areas, your shot will probably not be more than 75 yards and a 12 sabot slug will have more ability to get through the thick brush. But i will have my trusty .30-30 ready just incase, not a real power house, but it is great for those close shots like you will probably have in 9R
