Iowa Hunters need advice
Hey guys, I need your advice. Myself and a few friends are planning to bow hunt your state of Iowa the week of November 13th 2006, in zone 5 with an outfitter. Since I never hunted Iowa, I would like to know 2 things if you can help:
1) the week of November 13th, is it a good time to hunt your state?
2) zone 5, how would you rate it?
I thank you all for your time, and consideration.
Joe

I hunted Iowa last year from Nov 5th to the 21st. I saw the big boys the 12th to the 14th. I was also in ZOne 5 public land.
I hope you have a couple preference points if your planning on hunting this year.

2006 would give you a 50/50 chance at drawing right now. Im sure if the price goes up this may change the draw odds. Another thing that may change the odds is being able to just purchase a point as this is the first year doing that.
Good luck on your hunt Iowa is a great place with friendly people.

My advice is if you are going to spend the money to go out of state to hunt, go to kansas, they have some real pigs down there. Probably cheaper than taking an Iowa cull buck.
Great time to hunt. I hunt zone 10 so i could not tell you about 5.

Anytime in November will be good. I think they passed a new law this year that would require nonresidents to buy a doe license along with the any deer tag and require you to shoot the doe first, maybe that's only with the gun seasons. Fortunately for us residents, we don't have to draw, we can just go to the store and buy a tag and go out and shoot a deer the same day. But still, Iowa does have alot of deer, just depends on where you're hunting at, I'm sure area 5 is good although I don't know where that's either heh as I hunt statewide.
