Looking for land to lease
 

Can anyone help me in finding an available lease? I am looking for quality property (mainly for bowhunting) that has good trophy whitetail potential....aren't we all. I'm not looking at any one state in particular, as long as it is in a quality area of the midwest...be it Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri etc.

I have a 320 acre Missouri island available for lease. You would have exclusive access fro bow hunting. The island is about 1 1/4 miles long and 3/8 mile wide.

The island includes a 60 acre cornfield that is flooded each year for duck hunting.

Camping on the island is allowed. Owners will help you cross the narrow channel with 4 wheeler etc, but you would need a boat for regular access.

2005 lease is $6000.

If he wants $6,000 for one year...that's a little pricey. I just bought 82 acres that touches or other farm for $20,000. That's BOUGHT...OUTRIGHT. Granted, it's in WV...and not in the midwest, but we still have killed some 130-150" deer there over the years.

One year for $6,000...I'd pass. [:@];)[:@];)

$6,000 isnt bad, most IL Farmers down in Pike, Adams, Brown Counties get around $10 to $30 per acre... that 320 acres falls right in around $19.

There is some leasing services, But i dont know there website address.. sorry, I always go directly to the farmers and talk to them about leasing.

I prefer to talk to farmers about leases too. But when you are looking for out-of-state leases that becomes much more difficult. I'd be more than happy to talk directly to landowners if anyone knows of any.

Ya might look into buying some land, especially if it has some ground on it that can grow crops. I've bought 180 in the last couple of years, in north central KS.,I have my brother farm it, he gets 2/3's and I get 1/3 of income and we split cost the same, my payments are about $6000 a year, and with the income from the crops and being able to wright off the interested paid, it is a cheap way to insure yourself hunting land! I actually ended up with a net income last year!
