Calibers for Elk

Got an ongoing debate with a buddy who says I need to buy a new rifle prior to us going Elk hunting. I have the following calibers currently .270, 30-.06 and .308. From a bench every one shoots less than a 2 inch group at 200 yds. Here in the East I have never shot beyond 100yds when in the field, so I am sure with some work I can tighten the groups.

Looking for experienced opinions regarding what caliber you may have used and the damage your respective caliber did.

I've used my .270 with 140gr Accubonds on cow hunts the last two years with very good results. You'll get a lot more help in the BigGameHunting forum. Jim
