Archery hunting Kansas in 2005

I'm going to see if I can get drawn for a non-resident archery tag for next season. I'm looking at hunting on public land. Elk City Lake is where I'm thinking. I'm going with my girlfriend to visit her dad in OK right on the border not to far from this area and figure I would take advantage of the trip and do some hunting. What is the hunting pressure usually like for this area or any during archery season. Any info about Kansas would be of great help.
Thanks
Scott

Elk City Lake wildlife area is hunted alot....good deer and turkey population....
alot of eastern turkeys.....but hunting pressure is high as it is in most of our public hunting lands .....it is a good size piece of land...it is possible to fill tags

Do you have a preference point? If not you probabaly won't draw a tag. Also, KS is splitting up into 14 or so zones, and you must pick only one to apply for. Most should take 2 points to draw.

Another nice bonus I saw is they will be raising the price to the highest in the United States at $400.

I have two points and am not applying this year. These costs are getting too rediculous.

A friend and I are also thinking about going to Elk City Lake to bow hunt this year. Have you heard anything about this place. I know some guys that hunt near there on private land and they kill lots of good bucks.
Thanks
Mark
