Hey Finner, I see you are from the UP, do you ever venture down to Northern Michigan? Have you heard of Atlanta, Michigan? "Elk Capitol of Michigan"... that's where we will be heading tomorrow. Shane's dad lives up there and we are spending Wed-Sun there. We were going to hunt his dad's land, but unfortunately we will have the little ones (change of plans on their bio dad's part **rolling eyes**), so we probably won't get to hunt... but I plan on taking them on an elk "hunt", they have never seen one, so I would like to take a drive so they can see an elk, they would freak out!

hey buck hunting girl... yes i have been down to northen michigan many times, i have a sister that lives down by detroit, and me and my buddies go on a fishing trip ever spring down there. i live 5 hours west of the mackinaw bridge in houghton county quite the long ride at 55 mph...lol. i have heard of altlanta yes but never been there. yeah i heard they got quite the elk numbers. too bad you couldnt hunt them hey:( i hope to some day go elk hunting i think it would be a rush especially with the "bow" they are some big animals and to get that close to them would be sweet. i bet your kids will think there neat...hope you have fun!

Shane is originally from Saginaw, so we are up there all of the time visiting his family, I love Michigan, but I like my hunting in Indiana, less saturated and more productive. ;)

I agree though, an elk hunt would be excellent, it's just soooo very hard to get drawn for a tag. Same with the bear hunt up there near Atlanta, it's a wish list thing, ya know?

We were considering putting in for an elk tag in Kentucky since their herds are growing, but we will have to see what is in the financial future with regards to that... the only thing that sucks having two of us is the chances of us BOTH getting drawn are next to nil, so one of us only gets to tag along as an extra pair of eyeballs.
