Hi lifehog

There are at least 3 or more places to have a few . There
is a place called Central Tavern on 204 E. 4th street
Sazarac Taveren on 201 E. main The Nook on 111 E 2nd street
and there is the Riverview resturant and bowl on 218 W.main
if you are looking for some good food I sugest trying the Riverview
they have good food and a look out of the IL river tell the owner
Jerry I sugested it to you ( If you like fish you can't go wrong here)
Me and my family have eaten there for years and know the owner.
I hope this helps you out . Kevin Langeland

Good luck

If your not married, don't go to mt. sterling, they have an overabundance of big boned women who are extremely aggressive, and have few teeth.

Well yes, this year went up there to hunt early oct for a week, went to check my deer in and maybe have a drink, turned out we ended up going to the PAMIDA, or what ever that store that looks like a small wal-mart right in town, they seen our licience plate and it was like " we got to get some of them NY boys" when we walked in. I really was scared, all 6 people who worked there plus all the customers were stairing at us , all were women and pleasantly plump if you know what I mean. I felt like a piece of meat. So we left and went back to camp. The guides warned us going downtown alone, they were right.

Bucky 10,i go to florida for the beaches, colorado for the mountains, illinois to bowhunt big bucks.the people in the small town i hunt near for the most part are all friendly and seem to like seeing new faces and also new money in the area.i always visit the local archery shop when i'm in town especially if i need any supplies.non residents wouldn't pay $300 for archery tags if there wasn't land available to hunt.so whats the problem.

I haven't been to South Side in ages (not since they changed ownership anyway). I go to the Approach once a year or so. I'm just not much on eating out. There's a bar in Valley City, but I've never been there. I don't drink anymore.

Chambersburg/Valley City bottom mostly. Did hunt down by Perry Springs one day first season. The bottom gets to be pretty hard hunting after the first day or so. It get's ran pretty hard by a few guys looking for trophy racks. Had a run in with em on Day 2 of first season. They pushed a nice buck to me, but I didn't have much time for a shot. I hit him, but then they pushed him about a mile or so from where I shot him. Tracked him about 3 hundred yards before I lost the bloodtrail. Following his track wasn't much good either, I lost it and the bloodtrail in some tornup ground that a bunch of deer had ran through. [:@] My brother in law is one of em. Although if I didn't have my father in law's ground to hunt I wouldn't have a place at all. Still, I managed to fill the freezer between firearm season and muzzleloader season. Still have late firearm yet to hunt.

Brice Lawson, my father in law. He bought some ground off of J.L. Wade a couple years back. It border's J.L's ground on one side and so some really nice bucks hang out there. He was trying to make it up to me for my busted hunt that morning. 90% of my hunting is down in the river bottom. I did see a nice buck that Sunday morning, but he was at 227 yds and I have only shot out to 200 with my muzzleloader (killed a yound doe at 201 Sat. night 1st season). I wasn't sure how much extra holdover I'd need. Past 200 the drop gets steeper faster. Well I got to see him up close later, one of my FIL's friends got him. Nice looking buck, had some damage to his rack though. Had he been 27 yds closer I'da had him.[&o]

Edit: Forgot to mention I was hunting on the far East side of Perry Springs. Have to go through Perry Springs to get back home.
