dogs/deer in Ill

I see this year that dogs are legal to track down wounded deer in Illinois. The thing that makes absolutly no sence to me is you are not allowed to take any kind of weapon with you while tracking the deer. What are you supposed to do---jump on it's back at 30 miles an hour and slash it's throat with a knife??....:)It's fine if the animal is mortally wounded and it's just a matter of time till it croaks--but what about a crippling shot to a foreleg or the such where the animal is still very mobile but would not make it through the harsh winter? Any thoughts? Just thought I'd toss my 2 cents worth in. Myself I don't like hunting deer with dogs cause it just aint hunting then---it's chaseing. Have a great hunting season all!!!!!

I personally don't like hunting with dogs either. The dogs do all the work.
