Early season hunt in illinois.
 

Just wanted to know some tips to hunt the early season in illinois, Brown county is where I'll be. Any gear advice for early october? Thanks in advance.

ticks are everywhere down there and the mosquitos are bad too. maybe look into some scent less bug spray:D and as far as tips would go i would hunt the trails as much as possible.

Hunt food sources during early season. I prefer to set up about 100 yards off a food source and hope to catch them moving back into their bedding areas in the morning. The big guys are usually back in their security cover way before daylight at this time of year though. I've found my best bet is evening hunts. Same gig, set up about 100 yards from a food source and catch them staging right before dark before they move out into the food sources.

Good luck! Early season hunting can be pretty tough if you're holding out for a nice buck. Does on the other hand - they're a different story.
