RE: info on greene county illinois
greene is another illinois river valley county, i have hunted in cass and morgan counties which are to the north of greene, deer pop/size should be very good. as far as lay of the land goes; depends on which part of the county you will hunt; the west border of greene is the illinois river i would expect it to be more hilly with more timbner than the east, less hills more farmland.

RE: info on greene county illinois
You will be hunting the western part of the county with lots of hills. There are three creeks as well. The farm has about 250' of elevation changes according to some topo maps I have seen.
I put cameras out last weekend and will check them tomorrow when I go back down to scout. 2 1/2 year old bucks should go 115-120 inches and weigh about 180 pounds dressed. 3 1/2 year olds go about 135-145" and 200# Older bucks will score 160 and up and weigh 220 and up dressed. Greene County has one of the highest harvest rates in the state, both raw numbers taken and deer harvested per square mile. The last numbers I was able to get showed about 8 deer killed per square mile of the county. I would assume some of the better habitat had upwards of 20 deer killed per square mile. I'll share pix when I get them developed. I generally leave cameras out two weeks. That will be about July 2. Goo luck! LLBUX |
