Rut just seems to be starting. Hunted Antigo area 11/5 - 11/9. I seen nothing in the woods. Had a party of 8 hunters. Got 1 - 10 point and a doe, every one else seen deer, but not what we have come to expect for this time of year. Very cold -5 in the AM. Wounder if the cold makes a differance or the full moon?

Good Luck everyone.

I' m in South Central Wi, The bucks were just starting to chase this weekend, however it is still just the little guys that are in pursuit, not the big boys. It wasn' t a full out chase either. This exact weekend last year they were running all over the hills. I think for some reason we are about a week behind. We' ve had a lot of doe shot down here already, so competition should be heating up. Rattling should start to work pretty well by Wednesday or so.

I beleive the rut is really heating up right now. I saw a dandy buck on Sunday hunting, but was 125 yards away and 2 on the way home behind does in the headlights in the Antigo area. This past weekend I didnt see any bucks near Crandon (didnt hunt), but while scouting I saw 2 huge areas in the snow where bucks were fighting hard. This type of agreesive fighting is usually a good sign of the rut in near full swing in my opinion. Good luck!

I seen a nice 8pt last friday hot on the trail of a doe. I had to stop the car and let them cross because he would not have even stopped for a Mac truck. Only one thing on his mind.

I am heading out tonight and this weekend to see what the action is like.

Good Luck
