Ohio Archery 2017
 

Almost that time...

I won't be out too much for archery this year. But I've got three ladder stands set up from previous years and I've cut all my shooting lanes and trails in the past few weeks.

Got a few nice bucks showing up on trail cameras.

We'll see what happens.

well there's a slight problem in north east ohio counties. ehd or blue tung . i hunt in lorain county & have found @ least 13 deer dead with this . they are saying it's bad in lorain, cuahoga ,geauga,lake & trumbull counties. may wait a month before heading out.

Ya. EHD kills all over unfortunately.

heading out again this morning . yesterday all i seen was 3 deer . a doe & her fawn & a small 7 pointer. passed on him. & let mama & her baby walk bye.

I hope to get out Tuesday or possibly Wednesday evening. Having two kids makes it tough....

Ohio seemed to have a decent opening weekend. Weather was good. Sounds like lots of deer movement from those I talked to and saw some nice bucks down as well. The local game lands barely had any activity Saturday morning. I drove by Saturday morning and only saw two vehicles parked.

heading out this evening . lets see how i do. possible rain this afternoon & early evening

Seen two scraps pop up in the middle of the woods on a old logging road. Hope its a nice one I put a cam on it just to see. I have not seen any dead deer or anything walking around that looks like EHD so far.

Checked the cam. out on the scrap and only have a few bucks hitting it. One 4 point and a small 8 point. Then a wide 8 point. A 9 point that might go 140" and a 10 point that might go 135" and then there was some antlerless deer coming to it as well. Looks like another warm weekend. Cold front coming on monday get ready.

Went out to check cameras couple mornings ago... Took my bow with me.


a 5point and 7 point came walking down the trail, they tickled antlers together for a few minutes, then fed off in the other direction. Always fun to see.

was out yesterday & seen 7 all total . saw 1 decent 8 pointer but too far to shoot.will be out today & monday.

have been out the last 3 days & the weather has changed from warm to cold & rainy & windy. have seen some but nothing close. mostly have seen them while walking out. due to spooking them. have talked to some other hunters on the property & they claim the bucks are starting to move. i have yet seen a scap or rub . nore have i seen bucks chasing does.:deer:

have been out the last 3 days ( sat / sun/ & today mon ) bucks are very active from 10 am to 2 pm & again around darkness. passed up 2 8 pointers within 20 yrds . seen a nice 12 pointer @ 80 yrds& seen a monster buck @ about 200 yrds out. while watching him had a decent 8 pointer sneek behind me while in a tree stand. would of grossed out probably around 135 - 140 score & weighed aprox 250 live weight.i believe he was on thr trail of a doe i had just seen 30 min. prior. & i don't believe he seen me . i called & it started to come back but he would'nt quit sniffing the trail were she went thru.
