Looking for hunting buddies within 100 miles of Rolling Meadows, IL.

Hello,

I just moved to Rolling Meadows, IL and I'm trying to make new friends that are interested in hunting. I should start rifle training in a few weeks so I'd love to start hunting in late fall/winter. As far as game, I'd be interested in whitetails, black bears, and coyotes but I'm open to other species.

A little about me:
I'm in my late 20's. Started to like hunting in my teens from all the outdoors shows, but never came around to learning yet.

I'm a huge football fan (especially college football) so I'm pretty excited for this season. Also like watching basketball and baseball.

Hope to meet some folks that are interested, thanks for your time!

This is probably the best forum for you to post in as just about everybody checking out this forum lives in the Midwest (or used to). If you think about it, finding a hunting partner can be hard to accomplish. People can have different hunting styles, safety practices, tastes and preferences. Many tend to find the friendship first then discover they have an interest in hunting in common. In hunting with someone else, you are trusting that person to walk around you with a loaded gun and they are trusting you in the same manner. Good luck.

I would search for a sportsman club in the area then make friends with people who may invite you to join in on a hunt.

Failing finding a club I would look for a gun shop that sold reloading supplies, ask about places where you can meet fellow hunters.

Personally I would only do day hunts at first. Get to know some one before spending a long week end hunting with them or even a week.

If you want to hunt you don't want to be stuck with people who want to spend all night at a casino drinking and gambling and then lay in bed half the day when you could be hunting.

:D Al

I'm with the people above get to know them before spending a weekend or week with someone you don't know very well. Everyone I hunt with I've know for as long as I can remember. But sadly they are drifting away from bow hunting and going to just gun hunting.

I'm in McHenry County and I'm also looking for hunting partners.

I recently sold all of my waterfowl decoys because it was so much work setting up duck and goose spreads alone.

I still hunt pheasants down in Yorkville and turkey in Wisconsin. I fish for bass, cats, and panfish in local lakes from my 14ft Jon boat.

I am interested in starting up predator hunting; coyotes, fox, and bobcat (as soon as we get the green light)

Hit me up if your interested

Tappe -

I saw your duplicate post in another forum and finding this one too told me this about you: you're the type of guy who takes such an interest that you are putting yourself out there to actively seek others who share an interest, and more importantly, you seem willing to learn. I admire that and I think I'd get along with you well. In fact, I registered on this forum simply to reply to you.

I am also a younger guy, 30 to be exact. I, too, suffer from the lack of hunting opportunities that are brought on by living in the suburbs of a large city. I have even tried putting craigslist adds up for free coyote removal in surrounding counties, but to no avail. I have done a TON of research and I have found a few hunting areas that allow rimfire. Also, I have a cousin out west a bit who has some land so we have been doing some coyote hunting out there. I typically also hunt squirrels and pheasants. Would like to hunt deer next season. Anyway, I can probably show you a few things and maybe we can work together to seek out good hunting opportunities. I have few other connections/friends in the area and we usually are able to provide different hunting opportunities to each other based on people we know. I live in Lisle so I am close.

PM me and maybe you can come on our next hunting trip. I want to know what kind of equipment you have too, please.

Thanks,

Carter

And to the other posters - my apologies - I should have mentioned that this includes anyone who wants to hunt. I am always in search of hunting buddies. Everybody has something to offer, that's the way I look at it.

Cheers!

Hello
I am in Cook county and also a wannabe hunter. 40 years old.
Did both NRA long guns courses.

Intend to go turkey hunting in a week if I can find where exactly the public land is that I am allowed to hunt :)
