Hunting buddy!

I am a gay hunter and trying to find other gay hunters to go hunting with. Not sure if this is right area to ask this and aware that some people may not like this. If any other gay guys out there into hunting and outdoor fun let me know. If anyone can give me info on places I can find other guys into hunting that are nice let me know. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Charlieblacklab

What do you have against hunting with heterosexual hunters???

It seems to me you are very biased. Why do you think "that some people may not like this"? Why do you ask for places you "can find other guys into hunting that are nice"? What is wrong with this place right here? We're nice people. You asking for places other than here implies to me that you don't think that we are nice.

What gives you the right to assume such things? Especially as you are a new poster? That's not right. That's not fair to just judge us like that. You seem like you are really full of disdain, even hate! There is no place for that here. We try to be nice, warm people - that's why this place was created.

I am offended.

Well every site I go to the majority not all seem to get freaked out by a gay guy. I have hunted with straight people my whole life and some are great and others are not. But all seem to talk about straight stuff like banging the waitress etc. I would like a group that I could truly be meself and not worry about guys not comfortable with them shelves. I ask you this how is asking for this any different then a guy asking for a lady to go hunting with? Sorry to offend you. But when it comes to guns and such I prefer to be with people I know won't shoot me or be an a** to me.

I'll be more clear. In one post you brought sexuality into it - several times. It's not like a "guy asking for a lady to go hunting with" because that would only be exactly that - a guy asking a lady to go hunting. It would be different and not appropriate for a guy to ask, "I'm a heterosexual guy looking for a lady to go hunting with."....

I get what you are saying and I wish we were at that point in society but sadly we are not. So I feel it is safer for me to be upfront about who I am instead of waiting till who ever I hunt with talks about their family and then oh my husband and kids etc etc. I don't feel that is fair to either hunting person to drop a bomb shell like that.

Quite frankly, I am a heterosexual and I would not hunt with someone I met on the internet without knowing that person well. I do not hunt with unknown factors, and even then you will not know what that person will be like until you hunt with them. I suspect many hunters take the same tack, regardless of sexual orientation. This origional post really doesn't belong on this message board. This isn't the classified section of the New York Times or the Chicago Sun.

Technically, a regional forum would likely be the most appropriate forum to find a hunting buddy for your specific area. Most people list the state they're looking to hunt in or even a section of that state so they can find somebody in their specific area. You might live near a state border and want to hunt in the next state over so it's useful to put such information in your inquiry.

Find a hunting buddy is a tricky thing as most hunters are leery of somebody they just met on the internet and tend to only want to hunt with people who hunt similarly, i.e. from a treestand, ground blind, spot and stalk, in brush, prairie, more open area, more closed area, etc. People tend to have preferences about hunting buddies using drugs, alcohol, etc. And last but not least, hunters generally want to hunt with somebody they feel comfortable around. somebody with similar viewpoints or a gentlemen's (or ladies) agreement not to discuss politics, religion or other hot topics.

Most hunters won't hunt with somebody who "chats" while they're hunting but they often talk after the hunt, etc. If somebody discussing their family makes you feel uncomfortable, then you would have to agree not to discuss such topics or look for somebody with a similar sexual preference as you're doing.

I suspect (although don't know) that most hunters are probably not gay or at least not sharing that information with other hunters. The subject doesn't really come up in the majority of forums on HuntingNet. In the political forum, gay subjects come up but it seems like a minority of members are pro-gay and it would be hard to state that they were actually gay as opposed to just supporting gay positions, rights, etc. Probably less than 5% of HNI members post in the Political forum so that sample size wouldn't be representative anyway.

I don't know if they're are hunting websites that cater to gay hunters or not although they would obviously be more successful. In addition to your post, you might add that another member can contact you via PM (Private Message) on HNI in case those member(s) don't choose to share such personal information on the website forums.

If you would like to PM you can.

This thread is just odd. I have a friend who is gay and we are going to go hunting together soon, but it's just that - two friends hunting. If he is gay, left-handed or blonde, I don't care on the hunt. He knows that I think it's a sin, and I know that he chooses that lifestyle anyway. It won't be a discussion for us.

Talk about a fractured culture.

I am not Gay, but I would have no problem hunting with someone who was. Good Luck in your quest to find someone to hunt with and a place.

IMHO several of the posts made by the OP are downright offensive to members on this site. Read them closely and it sounds like he's saying the only nice people are gay and God forbid if he went out with a heterosexual, as he might not come back from the hunt alive! Weird, just plain weird!!!

I agree with Old timer about hunting with some one I didn't know.
I had several guys at work who kept asking to go hunt deer with me. I worked with these guys for several years so when the last of my hunting buddies passed I told two they could come up to the camp and hunt with me.
So they show up the day before season and had brought a brother of one of them said they didn't think I would mind, Never bothered to ask before hand never the less. Strike one.
They had not been there very long and the booze started to flow and there was work to be done like stock pile fire wood for the furnace and pump water to stock up for morning coffee, had to tell them to do every thing and why. Strike 2
After 3 days of them acting like I was a paid outfitter and them thinking I should wait on them hand and foot I was tired of them. Strike 3 I called my wife and told her to call me home for a emergency in the evening. I told her I would be home that next afternoon and told the guys they needed to pack up as I was going to leave in the morning and lock up.

I decided it was more fun to hunt alone than wait on non paying persons who thought I should be like a out fitter.

Black white red green or purple straight gay or any thing in between is fine with me if you pull your own wait and do chores that have to be done

:D Al
