Deer in deep snow

Anybody have advice on how to hunt deer in deep snow? I'll be seeing more snow in the woods than I ever have in over 20 years hunting - 15+ inches.

yeah get some snow shoes and if you know where the deer are bedded down if you hunt alone try to approach to the point where when you "jump" them your right on top of them they will hold as long as possible and they won't be able to move very good at all. if you hunt with others you can try to drive them. i'm not sure where you live and what the terrain is like ? in heavy snow storms the deer will bed where they only have to get up and move very little to have cover and food i remember back in buffalo one place i used to hunt the deer would always bed under the same group of trees during extreme storms. well long winded but i hope it helps a little. good luck !!

Thanks for the advice. Now to see about the snow shoes. I hunt in Norther WI. The terrain is hardwood forest with some balsam and can be real hilly. I like your idea about finding the bedding area. I have seen them in snow get under the balsam too. 6 days to go. Can't wait.

they will hold a long time because they know they can't run like they usually do. also carry a deer mouth call i use modern calls because you can keep in your mouth as you approach if they spook and blow at you without taking off blow your call that might trick them and give you some more time to get a better shot as a matter of fact i always use that call when i'm walking to a tree stand or whatever if you jump a deer you sometimes can get him to stop long enough for a shot. dec 8th i'll be muzzleloader deer hunting back home as well !! good luck !
