Default IL hog hunting

Sounds like they're taking the same approach Ks wildlife& parks did!!! Now we cant hunt them at all !!! They made it illegal to hunt hogs at all!!! unless you are a landowner then you have to send the names of people to hunt them on your land !!!We cant run them with dogs,& we cant eat them!!! Our tax dollars pay for the helicopter hunts, but sportsman aren't allowed to hunt them !!! Are KsWP&T said they're were people turning hogs loose and charging people to hunt them if this was true why not fine them ,we already have laws on the books for that !!! Watch them so that they don't move that way, Taking away your rights to hunt hogs at all !!!If you ever hunted hogs you know you very rarely see hogs ,or if you do they're a flash by time you see them and you think can I shoot them is it season ,they will be gone !!! Any sportsman knows a dead feral hog is the only good hog !!! It always happens to hunters take away your rights to kill a pig when you get the chance !!! How many people will shoot a pig during deer season when they're hunting a big buck or on a paid hunt !!! It takes people that like to kill pigs that will spend extra money to hunt them !!! Your guides and outfitters are the ones that spend the time out in the field ,there are the ones that know were the hogs are!!! This is a full time job for most let them charge but for a hunt, not per pig !!!Even in Texas they're are places helicopters cant get them out of !!!It takes dedicated hog hunters to kill them ,hounds ,automatic shotguns, rifles, bows and bait!!! Hardest trophy pig to kill 20-30# pig !!! Think how much money Tx is getting from the sales of shells and sporting supplies that helihunters and hog hunters spend tax dollars that go back to they're DNR!!! Go get'em Ted and pig man givem hell!!! pissed in Ks!!!

They should also allow them to be bowhunted during the archery deer season. The gun seasons here are too short to dent a feral hog population.

My understanding of this new law jives with what topgun said. Illinois is trying to eliminate any incentive for people to introduce Hogs on their property whether for commercial purposes or their own hunting pleasure.

You actually just answered your own question. Spend extra money. That is exactly what thy don't want to happen. If outfitters find they can make more money by offering hog hunts they will "accidentally" release a few hogs to make some extra money. They won't worry about the famers who will have crops ruined years down the road. It actually makes sense what they are doing. They are trying to eliminate the hogs so people don't have a chance to hunt them and find them entertaining to hunt. Id rather have the government spend a few $$ to do it then hunters do it and like it and have a can of worms open when people start releasing hogs to get hunt able populations established.

In Wisconsin you can't hunt them or shoot them with a bow license either unless you buy a small game license.

Thank you Zim. I am all on board with your suggestion. Let the hogs be hunted in all deer seasons with the legal weapons for the season.

I think what DNR is trying to address is that with a pretty much wide open season on hogs anyone with a hunting license would have a green light to be afield with a firearm ....... and maybe hunting something else. wink wink
