I think what we need to do is limit the permits to 2 bucks and 2 does for a year or two outside of the Chicagoland area and that should really help.

A little better news is that the bow numbers really increased once the corn was out. Last year crops were out very early due to the drought so the deer didn't still have a place to hide. I think that gave last year boostedThis year it was a later harvest in most spots. Heck, where I hunt he just got the corn out LAST WEEK. Better late than never I guess.

I think with the cold weather coming in for both gun season the IDNR is going to blame the weather for any lower harvest. I think hunters are going to have to take it on themselves to hold back shooting as many does as years past. For us, we still have pretty good numbers and between 500 or so acres of where I hunt and the neighbor I think we harvested two does and a buck so far this year. We have the deer out there though. I had a horrible first two days of gun season, only seeing a spike and a nice 8 point. Third day of gun season I sat near a bedding area stand and saw 15 different does. Funny how just a change in stands and a slight wind change can change it all.

I will agree with the bag limits also,I have too many people running around saying in their group this guy and that guy shot 6 or 7 deer or more.People are their own worst enemy.
